Foshjedi2004 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I wanted a ressurection of the Westwood Studios games. Will that ever happen?? http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Darkmark Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I sincerely doubt it. But in the end it's just a name really. Sure it would be nice if it hadn't dissolved, but it's not as if it's heart hasn't survived in Petroglyph. Foshjedi2004 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 No. I mean I want a resurrection of the games they used to do. A SW spin and mod to the original versions. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Gen.Vader Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I sincerely doubt it. But in the end it's just a name really. .ju ju just a...name?!?! they, along with blizzard, INVENTED RTS games, but thats just me. they made great games only a few, very few that werent on par with the rest, they were good, but once you breach the barrier you have to go above nd beyond or fall by the wayside...... man great games all in all. im glad some genuises are still around, to make great games to continue thier legacy... I've have you now - Lord Vader
Bigedmond Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Unfortenatly Westwood is gone. That is never going to change. The guys that were in westwood, that have formed Petroglyph are here now. But im gonna tell you, we arent making Westwood game. Unfortenatly i would love to be able to play another tiberian series game, but i dont think that is ever going to happen. Like a fat kid playing dodge ball, im out
Swiftdraw Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 No Tiberium Twilight.... Damn.... Ah well, least there won't be a Red Alert 3. I liked the first two well enough, but how many times can the soviets be beaten? Though I think EA owns the rights to the C&C series and might try something, considering they like doing sequels so very much. I'm now teh lurker.http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/2/swiftdraw.png

MyZrael Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Hey guys what's the best mod for BFME available? And to make the question more elaborate how on earth can I install one? None of the major mods work on my game only the small ones like the ones that modify the unit cap size and others like it, an error keeps poping up when I try to load it with the mod launcher . I'd appreciate some help. Thanks I thought I was going forward, but it turned out I was going backwards.
TSKNF Posted August 13, 2005 Author Posted August 13, 2005 Right now the best mod you should look for is Rohavian alliance. It's not finished yet but it's does a lot of improvement to the game. Darkmark Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 I know it's been a long time since people last talked of it here, but I just recently took a look into BFME2 to see how it was going and in the process found some IGN vids for it. I posted a link for everyone else interested. I'm trying not to get interested in it too much, seeing how the first game disappointed, but some of the things in the videos looked pretty damn good. It strange, it looks the same, but looks to play entirely differently. I can't explain how exactly. Also thumbs up to them for the 3d water effects in the first vid, very wet looking. http://media.pc.ign.com/media/761/761534/vids_1.html You could always burn down EA headquarters I thought I already did... I mean... Uh... ...Oh look a block of wood. Let's all go look at the block of wood. TSKNF Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 The thing that's go me worried about BFME is that it's making EaW look like it might plunge the same depth "My doctor says I have a malformed public duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fibre and am therefore excused from saving universes"-Ford Prefecthttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/9513/bam7hn.gif
Teradyn_pff Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Eh? How is that Indum? My Death Star is bigger than your Death Star!"The XML is strong with this one!"http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/bg/type/0/teradyn.png
TSKNF Posted September 9, 2005 Author Posted September 9, 2005 Well I dunno...I've seen nice graphics and some promasing ideas in it, but so did BFME and I'm worried that EaW won't have all that much strategic depth. Bu tmaybe thats just me. Darkmark Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 The team behind it is run by and Englishman. Now I'm not being stereotypical or anything, but I do think that's a change for the better. Fosh will agree with me I'm sure. Maybe now they have the right guy for the job. Also the time they've had on it seems a lot less pushed. All through BFME construction I was worried it should be rushed... I haven't felt so much on that front this time around. (probably because it seems to be exactly the same engine. It's like BFME1 should have been had they had more time) I know what you mean about strategic depth Indum. I'm one of the first to say how unbalanced BFME1 was, but I'm willing to think that things can change. I'll wait until I see a good review before I get it to be sure, but I'm not going to look at it negatively until I have reason to. Foshjedi2004 Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Course its better. Hopefully it won't suck aas much as BFME did. They are trying to include the entire Middle Earth this time with the Dwarfes in the mountains coming into play. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Garbageben Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Here's another preview Q&A I found on Gamespot:http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/battleformiddleearth2/preview_6133390.html http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sh/type/0/garbageben.png
Garbageben Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 We're finally getting more details and videos about this game. I have to go soon so I can't go into much detail, but I will mention that the Dwarves have the GLA ability to go through tunnels across the map. Definitely an awesome ability and it fits the Dwarves well. http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sh/type/0/garbageben.png
Ghostly_Substance Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 EA Games finally suckered me into buying this game. So is anybody else going to buy it or going to throw a rock at EA games? Damn you EA games I hate you but you make the games I Like - Create a hero- 30 seconds of the dancing/singing guy power- Capture the Ring (flag) and build a powerful unit- Risk type mode where you conquer territories- Dragons and boats- Elves and Dwarfs - and uh.......Skirmishes and different place but same timeline. -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png
Darkmark Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 It caught hold of me a while back. I'm one of the first to complain about the way BFME1 turned out, but it's LOTR, it has a certain atmosphere that I enjoy. The second one seems pretty cool from what I've seen, so I'll most likely get it and give EA another chance. The 'War of the Ring' mode doesn't appeal to me too much, but I too look forward to the create a Hero mode. I found a nifty naming thing a while back for LOTR, and I can guarantee my heroes will use some of those names. Pity you can only have 1 custom hero on your team at a time. The other thing I like is that you can build wherever you want. I wasn't a fan of build plots and set castles. Now I can build a huge fortress of epic proportions... it's true. Isengard now gets walls... Oh, if anyone's interested that naming thing I mentioned can be found here: http://www.barrowdowns.com/middleearthname.php "And the moral of the story is: Appreciate what you've got, because basically; I'm fantastic." ~ Holly, Red Dwarfhttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y143/Lord_Darkmark/Forcedbanner01.jpghttp://www.starwarsforced.co.uk
