Any of you still play this? Just recently reinstalled AOE II and its expansion...finding I'm still having a good time with it.

Also, Age of Empires III is in the making, the screenshots look amazing and realistic for an RTS.

I like the idea and look at Age of Empire 3 but hate the land battles. I like the shorline and sea kind of graphics and the city graphics.

I dont like the horns going off when you tell your units to do something, irratating. Dont like the land battle but I like the destruction and the looks.

The biggest problem i had with AOE series, is the resourse gathering. While the types of resourses make sence, it's the lack of them. The idea that a stone patch might only have 1000 stone in it, u might be able to make some walls and maybe a tower or 2. I liked the idea of Empire Earth minerals, and how in rise of nations u just set up shop on a mountain. If they fixed that, i'd play it more.

-You seem to have an over developed sence of vengeance. It's going to get you into trouble some day.

AOE 2 was and will always a giant in the RTS franchise.Even AOM was near its level.AOE wasn't really that great, even for its time.

I don't have big hopes for AOE 3 on the other hand;I mean it look good but I fear that graphics will be 90% of the game and the rest will be crap

but let's wait and see.

Even if its the same as Age of Empires II with better graphics, it would still probably sell like crazy  , but it does have alot to live up to

But it won't be the same as AoE II 8) , here are a few of the new features

-home city, you will not only be able to build a colony, but you will also

need to manage your home city, you will be able to ask for

recources :) and units send to your colony from your home town.

-There will be only 8 NATIONS, but in some missions you will be able

make an alliance with 1 out of 12 indian tribes to get new technology

and units.

-Special units and economic advantages for every nation.

-Ships wont be that numerous as in AoE II, but they will be real floating

forts.

-Havok 2 Physics (Half-Life 2).

-You will hear canon shots all over the map.

-you will NOT have to build gathering points for resources.

-advanced AI

To bad only the real heavy video cards will be able to run the game in full detail :( , and I fear the price won't be low either

By the way, does somebody knows wath the Ottomanian empire is, because there's a samurai in my magazine?!:?:

By the way, does somebody knows wath the Ottomanian empire is, because there's a samurai in my magazine?! Shocked Question

You probably mean the Otoman Empire. My country has a great deal of history asscociated with them.To make things short, they were a vast empire and they are actually the turks(not sure I wrote it right).Hope you get it.

You probably mean the Otoman Empire

I checked an encyclopedia about it, it is indeed the Ottoman Empire and they are indeed the Turkish.

But that still doesn't explain the samurai ,at all ! :?

But its artwork, so its probably just an idea that nobody worked out.

Looks like it's 2nd Reich Germany to me as the flag looks like it has an Eagle on it. Maybe it's Prussia I'm not quite sure.

In AOE2 there was a mission for the Japanese versus the Koreans so I think they will be in AOE3

sorry to disappoiint chums but this is from the gamespots preview section

As such, you can play as the Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Prussians, Russians, and even the Ottomans, in the race to conquer the Americas by establishing colonies, monopolizing trade, and crushing the opposition by warfare. (Native American tribes, such as the Cherokee and the Aztecs, can be enlisted as allies during a game, and you can raise Native American armies, but they aren't really a playable faction like the European ones.)

you can see it here http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/ageofempiresiii/preview_6131066.html

better luck in AOE4?

Well when AOE comes out i'll be skirmishing as the English and Russians  Hope the Russians are a great force to be reconed with when this game comes out and hope it aint nerfed or will get nerfed. Well Japan is not in there and might be either an ally or something an expack faction. Well damn this game is addictive and something to do till Febuary :D Well heres something to contribue to the forum, What are you goin to call your city and explorer in the full game ? :)

If anybody complains theres more then 1 topic this is the game forum, that topic below or above this one is about the demo and the one in the bar is about a challenge and that'll get deleted on friday.

edit:

BLah me and my rushing typing, I forgot to add this to my post

- Russian - City: Sutograd or Modra

Explorer: Polovnik (hunter in slovak)

- British - City: Pezinok or Gouf

Explorer: Ghostly (!!!!)

In these ages of slightly more 'spectacular' 3d gaming, AOE3 doesn't quite size up so well (at least from what I experienced in the demo). Perhaps given the time and cash, I might indulge myself by buying it, but for now I'm waiting for others that would keep me hooked for the long haul.

Only thing buying me in is the city stuff but that slowly being washed out by Black and White 2 which has city building and wait, you can have a pet :) O and also a ancient army :)

Ok ya I know your either sick or bias about B&W2 because its EA but I just cant help it that its so well done. Anyways if the reviews are good and feedback from this forum is good I might buy it and it says maybe in my wishlist.
