Piett Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I was really impressed with the new technologies. I'm just disappointed I'll never get to play it.
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted March 2, 2008 Author SWR Staff - Executive Posted March 2, 2008 Yep I am disappointed it isn't going to be on PC. DarthTofu Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I plan to piss off my friend by essentially becoming a bum at his house once this thing comes out. (He has a 360, I don't). The graphics certainly look beautiful, and the user interface is supposed to rock. I hope they don't bork up the story like they did in KOTORII, though. This thing better stay relatively true to cannon! Then again, I avoid all cannon from before A New Hope, so I'm actually good to [/i]not[/i] care about whether or not its cannonical. EPIC WIN ON MY PART! 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away

kaja Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 The Wii doesn't get the shazam that the 360, PS3 and PSP versions get. It get's an assortment of mini-games(Wii, minigames? I'm shocked.) and a Multiplayer light-saber duel thingy, or at least, that's what I've been told. The 360 and PS3 versions are going to rock! They'll be some of the best StarWars combat games of all time, between the sweet graphics, Euphoria, and DMM. The latest viddoc on it shows off some spectacular looking technology. Also, it's going to be awesome for me, if not only because my cousin works at LucasArts! As long as it doesn't have some annoying fall-down from every attack (Ala Lost Planet and SWBFII.) or an ubershort story, there isn't going to be much that keeps it from not being a great game! I'm as eager for it as I was for Uncharted and Halo 3! http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s152/Dave-Mastor/Cluster6.jpg
Darth_Rob Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 You know, this has been making me upset for a long time. Like, when the Wii came out I snagged it because it was mad cheap, as far as console systems go. Personally, I like the Wii, and many of the games that are out for it. But at the same time, it makes me sad that there are no really GOOD games. Like, there are a lot of games Im missing out on because the Wii can't handle them. The Force Unleashed will be one of these games, because I know deep down inside that it will not be as sweet as the PS3 of 360 versions. Another shining example is that the Wii doesnt have many good FPS, and the ones they do have suck because the camera control is horrible, and all your guy does is spin in a circle while looking at the ground. My point is that the Wii does not fulfill me the way my PS2 did back in the day. I am a big time console gamer, and the Wii leaves me feeling gyped at times. I would love to get my hands on a PS3, but they are so expensive. Part of me is beginning to think that the 360 may be the way to go. Its cheaper, and I do believe it has a larger fan base. And I know I hate on the 360 for the fact that you have to pay a monthly fee to play online, but at the same time, both the Wii and PS3, while free, have very few online games. So, to wrap up my console takeover of this thread, I think I want to start saving up for a 360, just to start feeding my hunger for really good, hardcore gaming. But I have so many other things to save up for, seeing how I am finally moving away this summer after graduation, and then I'll eventually have to buy "the ring" for the misses...so many things to do, and just not enough money to do them all... kaja Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I think the PS3 hasn't been out long enough, the 360 has a year on it. I have all three, and I have to say, I love the PS3 more than the other two combined, it has good games like Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank Future, Heavenly Sword...(That, and I hear Resistance2 is going to be an awesome game!) yet at the same time, I have to admit that I play the 360 more, simply because it has more games at the moment. Right now, you'll be getting more bang for your buck with the Xbox 360, but I think the Playstation 3 is closing the gap fast! Back to the topic, one thing that I've noticed about The Force Unleashed, is that during all of their videos, the apprentice is either killing Rancors, or Stormtroopers... what's up with that? I want to be juicing Rebels or Pirates with force crush, not guys on my own side!! D: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s152/Dave-Mastor/Cluster6.jpg
Darth_Rob Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I'd be happy Force Lightning up a bunch of Gungans... Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! My Website http://fp.profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/pid/BigBadBob113.png
kaja Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Well, the concept art depicts an Imperial Star Destroyer, hovering just above roof level on Naboo, and awesome picture to be sure; so you may get that chance! http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s152/Dave-Mastor/Cluster6.jpg
DarthTofu Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I think the basic plot will feature hunting down Jedi who survived Order 66. You'll kill them, then you'll kill the Stormies who helped you out, because nobody is supposed to know that you exist. There's also a love interest in a character, Juno Eclipse. I'm willing to bet that you'll be told to kill her at some point and either be "true to the light side," running away with her, or "true to the dark side," going ahead and killing her. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Darth_Rob Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Heh. I remember in Jedi Knight II, I shocked the heck outta Jan. But that is an interesting thought, about killing off Stormies to destroy evidence and witnesses. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! Darth_Rob Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Double post, but worth it. I was checking out the link E set up on the home page regarding the new Lego sets. Here is a pic of two of the Lego figures, which are based on The Force Unleashed. It looks like a battle-worn Darth Vader and his apprentice, which to me hints that you will at some point take on Vader himself. Interesting stuff. Edit: Just saw the sad news online that the game has been pushed back from April to sometime in September now. Maybe I'll have a PS3 or 360 by then... Sinister Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I started playing this game Friday, and finished in Sunday. It is definitely one of the best Star Wars games, with little or no complaints from me. Two things come to mind... 1) Near the end of the game, after you've leveled up you character and have all kinds of crazy Force powers and lighstaber skills, you still are relatively weak. You would think that if Vader's apprentice can cause a Star Destroyer to crash by using the Force (and he does), then he would have no problem hurling a chicken walker and a bunch of Stormtroopers across the room. Surely Vader's apprentice would put the beat down on the opposition as he neared the end of the game. Wrong. Even at the last level, with Force-lightning and Force grip maxed out, I still had to run, duck, and even hide (that's right: HIDE) when it came to fighting enemies. I don't know, I guess by the last level I was expecting to be able to rip through enemies like the were nothing. Kind of how like Vader does at the beginning of the game. 2) I have the PS3 version, which has superior graphics to the Wii version. However, the Wii version has an extra feature that allows for two players to select characters from the Star Wars: PT, OT, and Expanded Universe and fight it out. http://www.geocities.com/xenogears23/Jokersinsigmgs.jpg "Life is hard. DarthTofu Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Warning: Spoilers Abound! I finally got to play some. As we'd heard, Bringing Down a Star Destroyer is quite possibly the most annoying thing ever. The way the TIEs keep coming at you, and the difficulty of killing them with Force Lightning... it makes for a very, very annoying level. That being said, it's a ton of fun to chuck stormies about with force powers. The final level (Death Star) is great. Dashing about to dodge the superlaser is a pain in the arse, but grabbing an Imperial officer with the Force and holding him in the path of the laser has to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game. Nothing like hearing him yell, "Put me down! Put me down!" and then watching him get blown away by the beam. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Darth_Rob Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Wow...the Wii version does suck. As for the Star Destroyer, its not a level...its a cutscene. So I just sit there and watch as Starkiller brings it down. Which ending did you initially choose Tofu? Did you go for Palpy or Vader? Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! DarthTofu Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I watched the cutscenes beforehand, but my mate went for Palpy. That ending, cool as it is for cannon, is the less cool one, IMO. I like the Dark Side ending better. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Darth_Rob Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I have yet to finish my second playthrough, to see the Dark Side ending. School is getting insane, with four huge projects coming due within the next couple of weeks, including lesson plans and research papers. Blah. Darth_Rob Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Wow. Those graphics are a lot better than the Wiis. The ending is also totally different. The "finishing Vader off" sequence is totally different. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! VoDkA64 Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I have it on my PSP, I really like it. I haven't played it recently though.
budious Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Bought the PS3 version but it was rather bland and not what was promised during the technology demo videos posted boasting about the level of interactivity with the game enviornment and the revoluntionary physics at work. Artwork was sloppy, controls and level design were sloppy, got bored and stopped playing around mission 7... haven't touched in since.
