Darth_Rob Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I got my hands on some old SNES games, and was playing through Super Star Wars, which is based on ANH. However, I dont think Lucasarts was concerned with continuity in the game. The first level has Luke running around Tatooine, blasting Mynocks and fighting the boss, which happens to be the Sarlacc. Unfortunatly, the Saclacc comes totally out of the ground and reminds me more of the worms from Dune. Then the second level has you in the landspeeder, where you drive around firing the speeders cannons at Jawas, who are chasing you in little cars and hurling thermal detenators at you. It was funny. budious Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 I remember that one. The sequel is better, Super Empire Strikes Back and you can play Chewy and run around cloud city blasting stuff to pieces. Super Mario Kart is awesome as well, those were the days. "In the future it will become easier for old negatives to become lost and be 'replaced' by new altered negatives. JediHunter Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 I think it was the Jawas chasing you wasn't it?.. I dont remember though... I do remember that "Dune-esque" Sarlacc though.. Darth_Rob Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 They are a crazy bunch of games. Better than the NES versions before them. I remember the original Star Wars game being a tad bit annoying, with having to drive the landspeeder across the map of Tatooine, exploring random caves with Raiders in them. DarthTofu Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 I feel like such a dork for not having knowledge of this sort of thing... But then I realize that I wrote a couple of articles on wookiepedia/corrected them, and realize that I am in fact the Ultimate n00b, and that all is well with the world... 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Darth_Rob Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 Dont worry Tofu. I had no knowledge of the SNES games either until just recently. I had dumped Nintendo for the Sega Genesis, so I never partook in the SNES. But then I dumped Sega for Sony, which was the smartest gaming move I ever made. Sega Saturn was a load of garbage... chrisman Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 LMAO, I have Super Return of the Jedi....wicked game. Now I'm gonna have to rummage through my basement to find my SNES and Super ROTJ so I can light up some old school.
bafordham Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I am all about the old school Star Wars games. The Super Star Wars series was one of my major games I had to have for the SNES. The Mario games are always good to. Yes you are Luke at the beginning on Tatooine shooting womp rats Jawas and other creatures. You eventually bump into C-3PO and find R2-D2. It is something different. The only ANH game that I played where you are Leia on your starship at the beginning was in the Sega Game Gear version of "Star Wars". It most resembled the NES version but not quite. I heard there were some Atari games for Star Wars, but I haven't played them (if I did only once and at a friend's house). I could look those up. I'm sure somebody wrote about them.
