Request for Design of Charity Logo

Hey guys, aside for my usual random forum postings, this one is for a good cause. My university management class has us working in teams on various charity projects this semester. My team is collecting pens, pencils, and paper supplies(loose leaf or spiral bounds) to be sent to technical school students in Mali, Africa. Basically, I am the closest thing to a graphic designer in the group, which I am not that good aside from image cropping and counter strike sprays. I am looking for good free to use paper, pen, pencil icons I could combine into a logo with the text "Mali" layered across the front. Any links to free to use icons (not those with lines through them samples) or anybody that wants to submit a complete graphic would be appreciated. Looking for a 128x128 px image for distribution on charity request letters to manufactures, businesses, churches, etc. Perhaps a larger 256x256 for posters and larger media.

 

Thanks for any submissions and permissions to use for charity purposes.

Thansk for the help guys... I will definitely attempt my own logos but I know we have excellent graphic artists here so if you want to lend a hand thanks for any help!

Yeah, use your creative touch, i'll take whatever help I can get. Rather than specific elements just think of theme of "basic school materials" to be represent by the imagery, so pencil, pen, writing on paper, etc... I'm not too specific.

Well, I was meant to get a newer version of illustrator last week - but that fell through. The newer versions had this some nifty stroke effects for paths to make them look more drawn .. so far I've just got a basic outline of a pencil, and was hoping to give it a better feel with a simple click

 

If you still want it, and don;t need vector, I'll throw it into PS and rasterise it up.

So far, so simple - I'm probably going to keep it black and white. This'll allow it to work with most colour schemes. If you've got someone with photoshop you can also do simple things like invert the colours if need be or change the black to ... whatever you want .

 

I should point out, I'm planning on adding led to the pencil, the text as well as making the pencil "chubby". Maybe some shading if I can get things to work how I want.
