SOCL Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Does anyone else remember all those really cool themes that came with Windows 98 back in the day? There was a Leonardo Da Vinci one, a transportation one, a space one, a Halloween one... I think it was called 'Windows Plus!' and there exists a descendant of it in the XP version... Even so, I don't find it nearly as fun as the old version. Does anyone happens to have any idea what I'm talking about? If so, does anyone know if it's possible to download (for free or otherwise) the old version? SOCL: Putting the BE in BEAK.Read the Forum Rules - Welcome the New Members - Rebellion Reloaded -
Darth_Rob Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 I think I remember. Didn't the main desktop icons change according to the theme? Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! My Website http://fp.profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/pid/BigBadBob113.png
SOCL Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 I think I remember. Didn't the main desktop icons change according to the theme?Correct. The colours to all the different menus also changed. And each theme came with it's own special screensaver. I'm very specifically looking for the old-school versions in all their late-1990s glory. SOCL: Putting the BE in BEAK.Read the Forum Rules - Welcome the New Members - Rebellion Reloaded -
Eagle Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Hm, I´m still using Win98 on the other partition of one of my harddrives. I could put them into a folder and send it to you. I don´t know, but maybe it could be possible to add the theme to your desktop if you copy all files correctly. Because there are also sounds, pics and cursors. Pm me if you want to try it and give me your email-adress. Than I will send it to you. Who cares at all?!
budious Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 I have the XP Plus themes on disc somewhere if you want... but I think M$ wants you to pay another $10 for them "In the future it will become easier for old negatives to become lost and be 'replaced' by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten." - George Lucas, 1988. [u.S. I'm very specifically looking for the old-school versions in all their late-1990s glory.I remember using some of them on my Win95b machine I used that until just a couple of years ago when I finally switched over to 2000. I wonder if those would work for 98? Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?

I wonder if those would work for 98? Aye, they do. I used them in Windows 98. Oh, and Tex, 2000 was seven years ago. Time to upgrade to at least XP. Well, not until at least Vista is in full bloom and XP is on the road to obsolescence Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? Mad78 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I must say that I have always found the installation and deletion of programs on Mac much easier. Its one of the main reason I like that OS. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
turtle Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I remember those themes. I liked the jungle theme. jungle picture, sounds, frogs. If I could find these themes without having to pay for them I'd be one happy guy! *edit* damn keyboard....not typing what I want it to.
SOCL Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 I'm even willing to pay, problem is Microsoft does not still sell the old themes. Rather revamped new ones which, I suppose, are cool in their own way, but still... Original is cool, not some blasted prequel that retcons all the mysticism we held so dear.
