Question

First, does anyone have a better way of getting through the blasted Gencores other than amassing ridiculously expensive and large fleets? I've tried sabotage, and my missions always get foiled, no matter how many personnel or type i assign to it.

2nd, how do you bring an unexplored system to your side? can't assault it, and can't do a diplomacy mission. there has to be some way, because when i go to an unexplored system then leave it, then come back later, often times it's rebel.

anyone have any suggestions on these?

Mon Mothma should just be shot.  period.  uptight, annoying, PC traitor

To your first problem I don't think there is any other way to bring down the Gencores :( . To the second problem when you have a fleet in an unpopulated system(with troops in the fleet ) just click and drag your troops and drop them on the planet, just like moving them from a fleet to a planet you already own. :D

1) The Gen Cores: First I would suggest running an espionage mission to find out who and/or what's on the target system (of course, your espionage mission can fail :? ). If there is a "General" on the system, that makes things more difficult. Other people on system will also make things difficult (depending on their stats). Use decoys on the mission. Remember it's easier to detect a mission with too many units. The hard part is finding that right combination of having enough units, with decoys. Too little and you fail, too many and you fail. Get some characters with "good" stats to help out if necessary. Otherwise, just pass on that system until a later date (you could blockade it in the mean time). Good Luck! :)

2) See DarthCrazy's answer. Just land troops on the uninhabited system like you own it (because you will)

Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?

Just remember to build something for that system after you drop your troops.

For the real hard systems, I usually use vader, with a good agent (maybe niles ferrier?) as a decoy. If that doesnt work, try and assasinate the general on the planet, or sabotage some of the troops on the planet first.

If none of the above works, just deny the planets resources to the enemy by planting a fleet in orbit permanently. This is also a good way of suckering smaller enemy fleets into a trap

Organize a fleet with a high bombardment capacity. An 18 fighter capacity fleet with a full complement of Y-Wings or Tie Bombers (2 rating ea.) will be sufficient for two gen core I's. Scale the fighter capacity up in the fleet for more shields or tech II. VSD's are effective to on empire (4 rating ea.) + 2 bombers (4 ea.) = 8 total, etc. + Carrier (0 rating) + 6 bombers (2 ea.) = 12 total; 12+8 = 20 w/ Admiral adds an extra percentage (say 20% for argument, effective 24 rating) which can kill two gen shield I's (12 resist ea.)
