Vigilante's and terrorists are unsettlingly similar. Though we tend to side with vigilante's they are still illegal. They claim to act in line with the law, in order to bring justice. However, they very act of bringing law breakers to justice when you are not commisioned by the relevant authorities is illegal. Technically they make themselves just as bad as the perpetrators, because they ignore the authority of the state. Here's the crunch point. In my opinion, that's almost exactly the same as a terrorist. The one difference being, is that terrorists sometimes go after innocent people to make their point. They too, like vigilantes, believe that what they are doing is right. They too, like vigilantes, use violence as a tool of fear and deterrence. They too like vigilantes are acting outside of the authority of the policing bodies. I may not be expressing this entirely how I mean to, or not quite as clearly as I want. But the point I'm trying to make, is that by their disresect of the authorities, are not vigilantes just as illegal and dangerous a terrorists, and therefore close to being one of the things you detest most?
