SOCL Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I did a year of uni and promptly quit as it didn't suit me. I've been an estate agent for nigh on two years now. Tis kinda fun but very hard work, and it's a dying industry.Didn't you also work as a receptionist for a time at an asylum, too? Paul Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I worked through college(Well after Cornell University) at a radio station as a disc jockey (now they call it On Air Personality meh) which was my major anyway. My second job was doing dishes at a nice Italian restaurant which provided free food. That helped with bills. After 8 years in radio and some time at a Florida Cable company I ended up selling electronics for a bit before ending up back at Cornell working this time. I didnt mind working through college it taught me a lot plus I saw tons of Rock shows free courtesy of my dj job. lol - Grand Moff Conway
Eagle Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 I will quit my job this year too. Because I´m totally fed up with it! Looking for something more suitable for me. But at first I´ll need a small break. Haven´t had much holidays the last couple of years. So that´s it! Today was my last day on work! It was just like any other day and just a few people, hm, actually just one has recognised that this was my last day there. Another female mate told me that she will leave soon too, because it just sucks there. What´s just weird about all that is that I haven´t got the feeling yet that I´ve quit. I rather have the feeliing that I got to go to work tomorrow again. Maybe it will take some time until I´ve fully realised that. Who cares at all?!
Paul Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Well Eagle I hope all goes well for you. - Grand Moff Conway
Eagle Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Thank you Paul. Allthough I will take a break I still will keep an eye for a new job. If there is a good one and I got the chance to get it I will stop the break, because I don´t want to miss any good chance. Who cares at all?!

Crap and soulless jobs aren't much fun in the long run. I was in the transport industry in one capacity or another for about thirteen years before my Doctor pointed out I hated it.. Now I work at the Zoological Society of London, of which London Zoo is part, and absolutely love it. I don't just feel a sense of purpose for conservation after a day's graft, but get to spend time with animals also on a daily basis. The way it works at the National Zoo and most other zoos here in the States, you work your way from doing those sort of jobs for free to doing those same jobs for pay, and then comes the progression in the ranks. Being a zookeeper is something of childhood dream of mine... SOCL: Putting the BE in BEAK.Read the Forum Rules - Welcome the New Members - Rebellion Reloaded -
Eagle Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 What a zoo to work at! They've got a rather funky website: http://nationalzoo.si.edu/default.cfm?fonzref=index.htm What would you be doing there SOCL?Wow! They even have Wookies in there! Cool! Working in the zoo is very popular here, because lots of people like working with animals, so jobs there are very rare where I live. If I would be the man who feeds the apes in the zoo of Basel, people may wouldn´t see any difference between them and me. Who cares at all?!

Basel is in Switzerland (Mad's country, of course he's in Geneva). Do you live in a nearby small village or over by Lorrach? What is your current job? Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
Eagle Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 (edited) So there´s a Google-Earth user! Yes, that´s right, I live right at the boarder to switzerland. But not in Loerrach, rather nearby and it´s called Weil am Rhein. It has about 82.000 citizens. The job I´ve just quit was a kind of something you may call a shop-assistant. Before that I was a marketing-assistant. But I don´t want to do that anymore if possible. I can´t be creative all the time and I like to know when I can leave of work. Mad78 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 SO as it turns out you ain't that for from where I am Eagle. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Palpycard.gifhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a359/Mad78/Spamkinguserbarcopy.jpgCLICK HERE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!Click here is you like Trance
Eagle Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 What do you mean? Why not? I´ve got also relatives in switzerland. Who cares at all?!
DarthTex Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 So there´s a Google-Earth user! Yes, but not the way you're thinking. I've been to Basel on business awhile back and stayed at local village inn's in Germany (Haltingen, Otlingen & Fischingen) all just down the street from Weil am Rhien, and in Basel, and in France (Blotzheim) Been there (Weil am Rhien) and driven through quite a few times (there's a nice Greek restaurant there, but I can't remember the name right now ) Fun times Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
Eagle Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 This world is really really small! There are two Greek Restaurants, but I guess you are talking about the Zeus right at the border to Switzerland. I´ve been there several times too. Haltingen, Oetlingen and Fischingen belong to Weil am Rhein. So you may had a job in the chemical industrie? But think about that, how big is the chance that a guy from Texas meets a guy from Germany, from the same small town where he just stayed awhile ago, in a star wars related forum?! Threepio may knew the answer. I´ve also checked tacoJoemeru´s x-fire profile a couple of days ago and saw that he´s got a guy from sweden on his buddy-list, which whom I used to play the star wars-mod for battlefield 1942 some while ago. Yes, this world is really small! Who cares at all?!

I'm not sure if that was the one on Mullheimer Strasse (sorry about the spelling, I don't have the correct German alphabet ) or not, but I have been to a couple. I'm an aerospace engineer and did some work over at Jet Aviation at the airport (of course) Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? Eagle Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Than you were in the Raebhus. Which I have forgot to mention. I used to play Billard there one stage up. The Poseidon is also a nice Restaurant in Loerrach. Have you been there in autumn? If yes, than you may were on the "Strassenfest/Streetfestival"? It´s every year in september in the older part of the town. If your an aerospace engineer you may help me with my Tie? It won´t start anymore. Who cares at all?!

Darth_Rob Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I have to go back to work on Wednesday after having about 5 weeks off. Blah. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side! My Website http://fp.profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/pid/BigBadBob113.png
SOCL Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I quit my job at the bookstore--too bad, though, because it means I have to pay...normal prices. I haven't done that in near two years! I suppose I'll get along. Next I plan on quiting my receptionist job. SOCL: Putting the BE in BEAK.Read the Forum Rules - Welcome the New Members - Rebellion Reloaded -
DarthTofu Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I have a prospective part-time job. Space Coast Kayaking Guided Nature Tours's owner bumped into me today while I was out paddling around. She mistook me for the child of a friend of hers, and small talk turned into me asking if they were hiring. I sent in my resume of kayaking experiance, and according to the owner I'll be the first person they call if some of the people in the buisness have to head out of State and they need somebody to cover while they're gone... Yippee. 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
