budious Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 (edited) Ok... this is my first attempt at a card. I love the new remake tv series of battlestar galactica so I thought it appropriate to throw together some cards. I decided to start with Bill Adama, commander of the colonial fleet. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mmoldavan/images/Admiral_William_Adama.jpg Edit: I added deleted scene clips from scifi.com relevant to character's background just for those who are not familar with the show. http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/episodes/season02/205/mov/bsg_del_205_1_baltaropinion.mov It took me about an hour to complete, I don't have the card available for download yet. I only loaded the pics over vader, and enter encyclopedia data, but have not created character stats yet. I will release them as a group set when all characters are done. I was using the howto guide on this site, but it not specify if there is a way to change the background image of the characters. I want to change the imperial logo to the BSG logo. Can that be done? Also, if I progressed to a TC are there any experience model editors who may like to model battlestars and cylon basestars and other BSG units for me?[/url] Edited March 8, 2006 by budious "In the future it will become easier for old negatives to become lost and be 'replaced' by new altered negatives. budious Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 Ok... well I figured out the getting the background in there, of course when I generate the encyclopedia picture in rebed it streaks the background. Any better method? "In the future it will become easier for old negatives to become lost and be 'replaced' by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. DarthTex Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 The cards look great Budious. In fact they look too good, I would hope they would be as nice "in game" (poor old out dated graphics of Rebellion ) Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
Jahled Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 So far looking good! Horrible corruption by the Rebellion engine of what looked perfectly good in you image-software. Best way to overcome this is to save one of game's original encyclopedia entries as 'rebellion palette' somewhere where you can find. All the game's entries are .bmp, so you have to change your images to bmps, before you import them into the game, otherwise the game engine will do it for you and corrupt them. Best way to do this, to get some idea of how they'll turn out is to import a custom paleete, which you should use the said saved rebellion palette you've now got lying around somewhere... If you use Photoshop I can talk you through this step by step if you want dude. http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Master_Xan Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I never really got into the show, not because it wasn't good but because I just never watched it. I'd be interested to play a TC based on it though... as well as one based on Stargate. (dream on, right? ) Star Wars: Rebellion, A Field Manual"O be wise, what can I say more?"

I read that the leftmost bottom pixel defines the transparency color, if I could set it pure black perhaps that would work around? Or explain the palette thing to me in more detail, thanks. Jahled Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Cool. This is something I struggled to understand before grandmasters like Lord_La_Forge poked me in the ribbs enough to understand... so lets go: Before you save your files, do this: toolbar, image, mode, indexed color, palette, which list you a drop down menu of options, one of which is 'options,' so click on custom and load in the rebellion_palette file I suggested you saved earlier... At this stage I suggest you set the dither on diffusion, at about 90%, but your eyes will at this stage be the Jedi As a rule of thumb, to get round Rebellion's horrible image requirements, I tend to apply a tad of smart-blur before the transition of file-mode. http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif

DarthOminous Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Definetlykeep up your idea, sure does take alot of time but definetly is a blast to play when your done, I was always hoping some guy good w/ modeling would do an original Battlestar, because all that biz realy loses me. BUt hell Id use even the new one if someone did it! I was always thinking of how to make the original and some how make it where you just get chased around the galaxy, maybe use the mapper to spread the galaxies so you have a running fleet or something, hmm? idea's are endless i suppose! Good Luck! Cards look good too,
budious Posted March 10, 2006 Author Posted March 10, 2006 Well I came across some problems with importing the battlestar universe into this game engine. Firstly, the ships in battlestar do not have shields... I reduced the shield strength to zero and the recharge to one, the lowest settings capable in rebed. I tuned the hull up to 20000 and the damage control to 1000. (Does anyone know what the game maximums are for the ship stats?) Even with damage control at 1000 two y-wings can disable a ship rather quickly. Also the new galactica series uses projectile weapons, not lasers... and the capital ship has missle yields, and nukes (though I have not seen them used yet in any episodes, low quantities not to be wasted). Can capital ships be modded to have assigned torpedo weapon stats? Edit: Max hull value is 32000 and max damage control is 32000 in rebed. Setting damage control to 32000 seems no different than 1000 so I assume the cap is much lower than that. Guess galactica's getting her shields back. There is still some minor distortion to the background gradiant of the BSG logo but the character appears unaffected when imported. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mmoldavan/images/Laura_Roslin.jpg 90-minute season finale of BSG tonight at 10pm EST on Sci-fi! budious Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 Season Finale Spoilers! http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mmoldavan/images/galactica.jpg Ok... here a preview of the galactica ship card I put together. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/mmoldavan/images/basestar.jpg ...and the cylon basestar! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the topic of tonight's season finale... "Holy Frak!" Notes the need to refine the encyclopedia entries ... Laura Roslin lost election to Baltar, he is now president of the colonies. Number six (Gina) fraks baltar then blows up cloud nine with a nuke. Baltar signs executive order to colonize "New Caprica" Timelime of the series fast forwards into the future 380 days! Most of the fleet crew have taken residency on "New Caprica"... Galactica and Pegasus continue orbital patrols with minimal staff and alert fighters. The Cylon fleet appears in overwhelming force, the fleet jumps away leaving the colony to surrender to cylon occupation. Did I mention "Holy Frak!" budious Posted October 6, 2006 Author Posted October 6, 2006 I like where the Season 3 webisodes are going... and the Resistance on New Caprica... it puts the whole sabotage and character depth for the humans in perspective as far as a full mod. Don't expect me to ever finish or release these, just 1 among many started and never completed projects... now where's that English paper I'm suppose to the typing... *Alt-Tab's back to MS Word "In the future it will become easier for old negatives to become lost and be 'replaced' by new altered negatives. budious Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 Didn't see these replies until now. Yes, Adthrawn, as you can probably tell from my various forum posts I frequently start new projects before finishing old ones. I haven't worked on these any as of late.
