SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted March 5, 2003 SWR Staff - Executive Posted March 5, 2003 What? RebED .27?? Would love to see what you have. Could you get some webspace and upload them? Or contact me and we can work out a file transfer. Personally, I think SWRE isn't any use... RebED does everything you need. But if some people want it, I'll be glad to host it as well. And welcome to the site! Thanxs for visiting and hope you stick around. Trejiuvanat Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 RebEd .27? Did that exist? http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
ElvisMiggell Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 I thought we were still on V.26 come an eery voice from nowhere inparticular... Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
JediAlex Posted March 7, 2003 Author Posted March 7, 2003 The Programmer for RebEd you make mention of, was known as "Revolution", and this hearty lad brought the SWR World to life, or rather gave it a "rebirth" of sorts. Sometime thereafter, holding claim to a staggering amount of achievements in the editing masses, Revolution just sort of disappeared, just like that, he was gone, and gone for good. Neither my friends nor myself know where he went, why he was to go there, or when and if he might return... Thus!, in our unhappy state we must plod along the best we can without such guidance... in our search for another qualified programmer, and such financial backing (apart from that promised by my friends and I) as it would take, to entice the said programmer to finish what was so long ago started. In short answer to your question sir, I rather think Revolution impossible to reach or contact. Other options must therefore be sought.
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted March 7, 2003 SWR Staff - Executive Posted March 7, 2003 There you go. Revolution just left, so there is nothing we can do about it. Lord_La_forge Posted March 8, 2003 Posted March 8, 2003 So we are children of the Revolution? Where are you Dad?? How long is his site down? I didn't have the opportunity to see the home page of Rebed.
Jahled Posted March 8, 2003 Posted March 8, 2003 Dude, let's just groove with what we've got.... http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0QgCvBMsTfpeizVmQT2rW4R5lZz1ZPWxn1TAv5Sc9ozbIpPpF2zil6*xu9H3T4q3XRdc0kfBlfhUPM1K2eAe77zlV38!xGcSv4Ep8k3la4o8/skate.gif?dc=4675412688740998607 http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
ElvisMiggell Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 Shouldn't he be on a spacehopper Jahled? I never realised that financial backing was needed for something like RebEd, how come? Elvismiggell. Jahled Posted March 10, 2003 Posted March 10, 2003 I don't know if you realized, but I was proving to that upstart monkey the speed of an Imperial Spacehopper... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
the_mask Posted March 11, 2003 Posted March 11, 2003 Well either to make a living or to finance your webspace (my guess).Cause I can't afford neither I got free webspace http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
ElvisMiggell Posted March 11, 2003 Posted March 11, 2003 Well what sort of level of financial backing are we talking about do we know? Are we talking thousands, or hundreds or tens? Jahled, i most heartily concur as to the effectiveness of spacehoppers! Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
the_mask Posted March 11, 2003 Posted March 11, 2003 That depends, I guess I'd be broke if I had to pay for hosting more than 480MB that my page currently is 'Normal' webpages webpages with up to 50MB should range about 5€-20€ a month, depending on what your provider wants for hosting and if he makes you pay for the traffic. I think that's the reason, that the guys at jediknightii.net had to move their servers quite a few times in the last year http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
ElvisMiggell Posted March 11, 2003 Posted March 11, 2003 So how much would these guys need to get RebEd up and running for a year in terms of paying for webspace? Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
JediAlex Posted March 11, 2003 Author Posted March 11, 2003 Gentlemen: my comment was made with programming in mind, as we know a few really good ones, however, they currently work for other companies as such, therefore any project undertaken in their spare time, as they are not SWR players as a rule, would most likely require as 'incentive' of some kind, first to consider the idea (RebEd 2?) then to promote swift enough progress that we might see the results in our lifetime, instead of missed release dates and the like, which we've suffered through before as I'm sure some of you will recall easily enough! It is my proposition, to get a small group of programmers together over the web or perhaps in my area, and present them some small amount of money ($ XXX.XX) ? to construct from what we already have and what we know (dll entries etc...) an editor to perform all the formerly listed possibilities- resource / maintenance points editing/training, 3d model editing, cut scene editing (remove and replace!), planetary resource editing/natural disasters- on/off/where/when... perhaps we could have an idea page here on the site - though of course the site is not mine so this is only a request/idea for Evaders- so that the players can submit some idea of what is needed to make the Final editor everything they could want, and we won't have to do this again! Well, start playing with the ideas that used to roll around in our heads, and let's see if we can put something together and get it off the ground! As large as the SWR Community is, I think we could accomplish something of this nature easily enough if we put our minds to it. GreyWolf
ElvisMiggell Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 Sounds good to me. I figure i could maybe come up with a coupla hundred squid as incentive. I others are willing to come up with something i figure we could get a reasonable amount together. Unfortunately i am in a particularly badly paid job and so cannot afford to give any more than that. JediAlex Posted March 21, 2003 Author Posted March 21, 2003 S. tar W. ars R. ebellion E. ditor: Was the original editor or SWR, using a graphical interface, set in a dos shell enviro, that played the SW music and used the .dll entries from SWR as pics. If you use Rebed, you have undoubtedly seen the launch point for SWRE, and the configs for it.My viewpoint is, if you have one, you should have the other But that's just my take on it. This explination is brief, but I hope it somewhat answers your question. GreyWolf

JediAlex Posted March 21, 2003 Author Posted March 21, 2003 My pleasure Do you have any instant messenger? I'm trying to email you SWRE 2, but it would be faster as a file transfer. Please Check your email. Sorry I had to put this in a post. GreyWolf
Guest Scathane Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Nope, I do not have any instant messenger. Call me insane, but I don't trust them. I have to allow my firewall to have all sorts of vague stuff access the web as it is. Moreover, I feel that instant messengers are annoying. More than half of the time they're trying to access the web or lettting people know that your online so that they can disturb you while you're doing other things..... Sorry, I just had to get that of my chest.
Trejiuvanat Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 What are the imprvoments in SWRE 2 over SWRE 1? http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif

Guest Scathane Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 Thanks, JediAlex. Now how is it that you're the only one ever in possession (seemingly) of Rebed 0.27 and how did you lose it?
