zehnwaters Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 *Shrugs* I guess it's mostly just a matter of opinion. I never said the acting was great, it wasn't, but I didn't feel that it was so horrible that it destroyed the movie for me.

Master_Xan Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 And how he trips over his vowels... I didn't think the acting was too bad in any of the movies. I thought the directing was terrible in the prequels though. Seriously, the way GL handles the Anakin/Padme thing in Episode 2 makes me cringe. Literally, I cringe and fast-forward through parts of the movie. Anakin manages to 'accidentally' destroy the Trade Federation mothership in Episode 1? Ok, if you have to have him do it, you could pull it off more realistically then how he did. Need I even mention Episode 1's Jar Jar? Talk about dumbing the movie down for 5 yr olds. Some of the lines from Episode 3 were terrible as well, and it wasn't the fault of any actor. The lines were just written horribly. Star Wars: Rebellion, A Field Manual"O be wise, what can I say more?"
DarthTofu Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 Yeah, some of them were the fault of the actor... I return to Harp on hayden's monotone "I have brought peace and security to my new empire... W00." 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Aenivae_Ikeda Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 You can blame the lines, but in the original trilogy there are cases when the actors bashed Lucas for the bad lines and forced him to let them say different things because they knew that the bad lines were destroying their characters... So yeah, none of that with the prequel actors... But whatever. So yeah, none of that with the prequel actors... But whatever. I recall hearing that on a few of the inside star wars specials. Harrison Ford twisted around a good portion of his dialogue. Lucas had a pretty good story and drove special effect elements in the original triology, but he was never much of a screenwright. If it wasn't for Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg the Indiana Jones saga would have been filled with horrible dialogues as well. Part of the reason for the failure of the prequel trilogy are the weak actors, and those inexperienced enough to compensate for a crappy director. Even with a strong character personality as Samuel L. Jackson he didn't shine through in this movie in any regard. He was swallowed up by bad lines and poor performances. Lucas failed because he had too many digital characters, ie... all the conversations of actors with yoda... none of them knew really where to look or how to convey thought or emotion, they just stared off and read their lines. George could have borrowed a lesson from Peter Jackson here. As the actors in the Lord of the Rings trilogy interacted with Gollum, the actor played him in live action shots, and was then digitally replaced by the special fx crew. Defender_16 Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 GL: So Stephen, what do you thing of the final draft of the script? SS: Well I like this part, and this part, and the and we deffinitely have to keep the part with the horse. But the dialogue? *Slaps GL in the back of the head.* It isn't THX 1138 that we're thying to film here! It's Indiana Jones for christ sake!
DarthTofu Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 For Christ sake? So they were working on "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", then... Oh, and you better fix that post before Scath shows up to BEAK it... You see, the issue with having Peter Jackson show up and help with the movie is that it would have improved it drastically- George can't have this. See, its part of this huge conspiracy in which we all, in hating the movies, discuss them more, giving them more fame than they would have had if they were good! 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
budious Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 See, its part of this huge conspiracy in which we all, in hating the movies, discuss them more, giving them more fame than they would have had if they were good! The problem with this conspiracy theory is GL is barely competent enough to direct a movie let alone orchestrate a global conspiracy on the scale your suggesting. Master_Xan Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Not to be a party pooper or anything... but... well... *calls police and informs them that Tofu is flying to Wisconsin (with a gun) to assist in a suicide and is also involved in a conspiracy theory. I also inform them that George Lucas is head of the conspiracy, and as a reward for tipping them off I should get 1% of his net worth and free rights to the Rebellion source code* Star Wars: Rebellion, A Field Manual"O be wise, what can I say more?"

Aenivae_Ikeda Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 For the source code I would gladly turn in Tofu and his associates... You know what... I wouldn't even need a reward for that. Just the pure spite would give me enough pleasure... Master_Xan Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Xan, I wouldn't say anything if I wasn't one myself. What, an informant, or a Mormon? And how about I go get that source code right now? Does that sound okay with you guys? Wish me luck! Pray for me! May the Force be with me! *insert whatever other similar phrases you can come up with.* (picks up telephone and dials Lucas...) EDIT:(hangs up) Well guys, I've got some good news. I don't have the source code! It was worth a shot though, don't you think? Star Wars: Rebellion, A Field Manual"O be wise, what can I say more?"
DarthTofu Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 No... No it wasn't... And By the way, I was headed over there to help Mitth use the gun he already had to his head- he just needed someone to help him pull the trigger. And for all you know that was really just a pretense so that I would be admitted and could help him to recieve psychiatric help, so hah! 12/14/07Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Mitth_raw_nuruodo Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Don't lie Tofu. I don't have access to a gun, how could I have one to my head? Also if you re-read that post you'll see that I was asking for someone to bring a gun and put it to my head. @Xan: The second one. Chaos, Panic, Disorder, Destruction.....My work here is done.
