Modern Day Star Wars

Imagine, if you will, that one day, George Lucas decides to go and remake the original Star Wars trilogy. Nightmarish, isn't it? But that is not the point.

The real point is, who would he cast into the roles of the main charachters? Who would get to play the rougish Han Solo? Who could fill the shoes of the naive farmboy Luke Skywalker? Who could entrance us with her regal bearing as Princess Leia? And what about everyone else?

This is what I want to know!!

Personally, these would be my picks.

As the Naive Farmboy, I wouold have to go with Edward Fuflong:

Mr. Furlong is best known for his role as Danny Vinyard, in American HIstory X. But he has had many other roles, all of which he did quite well, even rising above piss poor writing inthe fourth Crow installment.

As for the never say die, go against all odds smuggler Han Solo, I would have to go, oddly enough, with this man:

Jonathan T Frakes., better known as William T Riker, from Star Trek TNG. As for this pick, to me Frakes has the best chance at pulling off Han Solos' overall attitude. Granted, he is getting on in years and would have to dye his hir some, but still.

Ah yes, the lovely Leie Organa (Solo). Princess of Alderaan, twin sister of Luke Skywalker, leader in the rebellion. For this role, I would have to say a famous starlet would be perfect.

Why? She can pull off the regal look, the herion look, and the leader look. And I bet she would look so cute with her hair up in those odd buns...

Moving on, who do we get to play the old sand hermit/teacher/jedi Master Obu Wan Kenobi? Intelligent, wise, patient, all of these things are what make him so danged cool. And frankly, who better to play an eldery sword weilding good guy, then none other than a elderly, sword weilding good guy?

Sean Connery is one of the best actor out there. He is the right age. He has that wise, all knowing attitude when he wants it. That, and his accent makes him just that much cooler.

Grand Moff Tarkin. Controller of the Death Star. Killer of Alderaan. A hard role for anyone. They would have to be tall, thin, and have that just plain evil look to them.

Malcom McDowell fits the bill, doesn't he? And better yet, his voice is crisp. Clean. Imperial. A perfect actor for this role.

As for the rest, I don't know. Lando Calrissian would be hard to portray. james Earl Jones will ALWAYS be the voice of Darth Vader. What other major roles are there to fill?

And who would you want as the actors for a modern day Star Wars?

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

Let me think...

I ain't sure for some of the main characters.

I must say if you were looking for some die hard fighter pilot i think Johnny depp could pull off a good act.

Otherwise i really don't know.

Personally I would find someone who stared in "Bridge Over the Rive Kui" as a tribute to Alic Guiness to fill the shoes of Obi, but that's just me. Or maybe even Harrison Ford (The guy's a good actor and he sure as heck isn't getting any younger!) What about Yoda's voice? I don't know for sure, but I think Frank Oz is dead, now (I'm wrong, aren't I?). Personally I nominate Ozzy Ozbourne for Yoda's vocie- they're the same difficulty level in terms of being able to understand them. As for Leiah, I think I'd go with Edit: Cameron Diez- bimbo, yes, but frickin' hot!!! Luke... Luke, I don't know... I know who Lucas would put in (Hayden Christianson), but I wouldn't do that unless you gave me an amount of money greater than two gillion dollars (I always have a bribing level). As for Han, I think Jonny Depp would be a better Han than a Wedge. For Chewbacca (The person in the costume) I nominate Michael Jordan or some other NBA/WNBA player. For Tarkin, slayer of Alderran and pure evil, I know the perfect person to show all of those atrributes- Richard Simmons. I know, its scary, isn't it? Edited by DarthTofu

I think he said Cameron Diaz. She's been around a bit. I don't know if Johnny Depp could be as rough or cocky to pull off a Han. I really don't know about anybody. Except for Sean Connery. He would make a kick ass Obi!!!

And btw Tofu, if memory serves me well, Jim Henson is dead, but Frank Oz is alive and well.

Ah. Well thank you for that. And Bad_Samaritan, isn't Jonathan T Frakes the old host from "Beyond Belief; Fact or Fiction"? I've just seen several reruns of the old show on sci fi and someone who is at least very similar looking to him is always the host... except when its that one white hiared guy... i dunno, he just looks to sofisticated to be a smuggler.

Jessica Alba is my choice for Princess Leia.

And yes, Frakes was the hos of that "Beyond Belief" show. But I still can see him pulling off the cocky Solo attitude.

He looks oddly familiar, though I can't place what show he is from. I know I have seen him before though. But from the pic above, he def. looks nasty enough to be the Grand Moff.

After arriving home from taking the kiddo's out trick-or-treatin', I was flipping through the cable channels and saw a STAR WARS documentary (on A&E). I don't know how much I missed, but it was 2 hours long and very interesting. They showed some tapings of different actors reading the parts for Luke, Han & Leia. One of the actors for Han was Kurt Russel, and reading with him for Luke was William Katt. Wow! that would really been an interesting twist. Apparently Harrison Ford was originally brought in so the other actors could read their parts to him. He was used to voice the other character parts when the actors were reading. They were having a hard time finding the right "Han" actor for the part, until someone suggested Harrison (since he was doing a good job while reading with the other "auditioning" actors). GL initially didn't want anyone he had worked with already (Harrison was in American Graffiti). And the rest is history.

Just an odd thought: Jeremy Irons would make a good Admiral Thrawn (at least I think so).

Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?

I think you may have been watching a special called "The Stars of Star Wars". I believe it was a similar documentary, but it is from a few years back. But what caught might have been new for the release of ROS.

I dunno. I bought it at a wholesale outlet a few years back (it was like $2.00) and I never got around to using it.

Damn. The only one of those movies I saw was A Clockwork Orange, and I don't remember him in particular. I dunno then. Perhaps I was thinking of someone else.
