Okay, i know that this isn't entirely apporpriate for a Star Wars website, but my sister asked me to post it to find out, and I figure that this is s good of a spot as any to find out if there are people interested in this- Anyone here that is a fan of Stargate: Atlantis- my sister and i might be opening a general plot writing/ discussion forum on the topic. Just saying, so feel free to contact me and ask me about it- eventually I will have information. Administrators, once again, sorry that this has nothing to do with Star Wars, I just didn't know where else to put it, and I know that there is at least one fan of SG-1 here from the card catelog.

Damn straight. I'm ecstatic for the all-new SciFi Friday! I am such a Stargate SG1/Atlantis/BSG fanboy it's not even funny :D. Ok, so maybe I don't know all the specs on a X303 but hey, at least I watch the show every week :D. I for one am glad to see Stargate doing so good.. it's an example of what the Star Wars series can be like if they don't botch that up by having Lucas direct it. Maybe they could hire the Firefly guys.. hmm..

Speaking of which, anyone else excited about the upcoming Stargate game? I'm a bit distressed that it's going to be for consoles, but it would be ultra cool if you could go to any planet at anytime by manually dialing the symbols! :D

I'm a fan of the SG series. They're a great watch, and have a good mixture of story, action and comedy - mind you, Carter's rambling can get teadious and boring but Jack usually fixes that with a quick joke.

Personally, I think Jacks style of humour is a big reason for it's sucess - my brother, for one, use to watch it just because of Jack's humourous wit.

It's good to see that they've continued the same style of humour over to Atlantis with the Major . . . guy . . . can't remember his name

As for the game, I really havn't looked into it at all - got a link?

I heard the game... Stargate Alliance? Should be out on computer before EAW.

I love Stargate and am thinking about writting and submitting a story. They're supposed to open up for submissions pretty soon. I'll probably start hammering that down tomorrow. Taking a page from the Rogue Squadron series, anyone up to hear about the SGC's hard luck unit, SG-13 (First shown in the Episode entitled Heroes Parts I and II) lead by Major Dave Dixon?

NO link, Krytos, sorry. Just google "Stargate Video game" and you'll probably get the game. As for Atlantis- it's Major Sheppard, man! And McKay can totally whoop Carter's ass! In the scientific world, that is. It's like that thing that was on friday- Amanda Tapping's time reading about black holes- 29.9 sec. David Hewlett- 12.4 sec. Or something similar. Blown AWAY!

I think McKay was speed reading, remember Carter speaks slower so that O'Neil *might* understand her.

I'll look it up tonight

As for Atlantis- it's Major Sheppard, man!

That's the one :) They need to make an episode with him and Jack in it (the 1st episode didn't have Sheppard's character down yet), it would probably be the funniest episode ever

And McKay can totally whoop Carter's ass! In the scientific world, that is.

I never really liked Carter that much - McKay, on the other hand, is a good character - funny, whitty, arrogant and a good 'ol prick. He's great!

Putting him along Sheppard seems to always work for getting a joke out

To start from the beginning: I am still a great fan of the movie "Stargate". The idea was quite inovative and Kurt Russel is allways cool, when he plays a soldier.

When later the first two season of the Stargate series came out I was quite disapointed. Somehow each episode was the same: Let's step out to a foreign planet, do something silly, discuss some old languages nobody does understand and return to base while saving the planet. That was kind of boring. Later then the episodes began to base on each other, the Asgard and Tok-Ra appeared. The stories did become more interesting, about conspiracies and so on. When they began to build their first own spaceships I was really fascinated by Stargate and did not miss any episode.

Now with Atlantis I am disappointed again. I find it kind of lame, nothing really new and I am missing the context to the people from earth. Also I think they have to work more on the characters depth. Perhaps it will also become more interesting sometime but right now, it is not really interesting. And over here Atlantis is broadcasted at the same time as CSI, so I usually does prefer CSI.

All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him. (Sun Tsu - The Art of War)

Wow, everyone likes the movie... I thought it was a piece of crap, but that's just me :D I read the book of the movie, as Monty Python would call it, though, and enjoyed that when I was still little. Though Ra wasn't exactly a Goa'old if you read/watch the movie. And by the way- Atlantis is trying to do character development. That was the idea behind Sheppard shooting the crap out of Bob the Wraith! Though i can sort of see where your going with that, Mr. Fish Face, the show is still getting it's footing, and the planet is kinda under a siege from these huge Yuzhan VOng-like aliens that want to suck their lives out of their chests. Not much time for small talk and development in the easy sense- hense the whole "McKay is the cowardly scientist learning to fight, Tey'la is the hardened warrior, Sheppard is the couragous hero, and Ford will follow as his second in command" thing. It's kinda like Daniel getting shot almost every episode in several seasons of stargate. :)

I never sat down and watched any of the tv series (though I think my mom does). But I did love the original movie. That was sweet.

The one woman, forgot her name but the one that was helping out the Stargate team..she was very hot. :D

http://www.stargate-thealliance.com/ my sister got that for you, Mr. Krytos- that is the site of the Sg-1 video game. Be sure to watch the previews- they're fun, though the graphics aren't as high end as some other games- it being a first person sooter and all. Or, possibly a third person shooter. Still, when I get that game, i'm gettin' me a staff cannon!

Thanks Tofu, and thanks to your sister as well.

The game looks good - the graphics aren't the best, though if the gameplay is good it doesn't really mater. And from what I could tell, it looks like it will have a good story as well as gameplay.

Well, this is another game I'll have to get :roll:

  • 1 month later...

Okay, my sis (finally) got around to getting a link to her site- it's based off of a board that is, essentially, a bunch of girls that are in love with David Hewlett (plays Rodney McKay) that I am not a part of (I'm straight, I promise you all). The link is:

http://lovingdavidhewlett.invisionzone.com/index.php?s=23ab3330e916a27697ef6e198d8a0fb2&showforum=8

See the topics called Group Plot and Plot 1a. My sister is Kormiic, so ask her about stuff if you have any questions... Or the other peoople on the sites who'd names I don't know (There actually is one heterosexual guy on the site- he's somebody's wife) so you might feel more comfortable that way. Once again, I am not gay- straight as an arrow. Straight as this an O. Wait a sec... :D (I'm straight)

This is DarthTofu's sister temporarily comandeering his screenname because he neglects to log off the computer when he's done (that'll teach you!). Anyway, we just got the plot up and running, but I'm not really sure what direction it's heading in. I love David Hewlett as an actor, but Stargate caters to my inner fanboy (OOOOOH, BFGs, fast ships, explosions!) and I'm hoping that this plot doesn't get turned into cheesy g33k$3x or something equally retarded. So just fair warning in regards to that, but feel free to write some and douse the fires of passion with a healthy dose of testosterone (did I seriously just write that?).

Yeeeeeeeah... Um. Y'all have a good one.

(And Mr. Tofu, sir, please don't kill me when you get back from your football game... )

I've only ever seen Stargate SG-1 on the Space channel. Sometimes I watch parts of episodes when nothing else in on.

Or if I'm bored.

Or if the alternative is Andromeda. 8Ohttp://andromeda.darkstar.st/actiondylan.html

I've seen a few things about the newer Stargate series but never seen it on TV.

Sci Fi channel- SG-1 is on at 8:00 on Fridays and Atlantis is on at 9:00 on Fridays. For old Sg-1 check it out on Monday nights- I think it starts at seven and there are three or four episodes.
