I was wondering today on whats the best fighter. I thik that the X-Wing is the best, becouse is hs good lasers good speed, good mavuver and also torpedoes. I tend to loose my b-wings to easy same with y-wings, a wings dont hit hard enough.

What do you think suggestions?

While my favorite fighter is the y-wing I have to say the Imperial Gunboat is the best. Unless we are doing default rebellion ships, in which case I have to agree that the X-wing is the best.

I am not sure how we are trying to measure what exactly is the best fighter. If its from the TIE Fighter games, then the TIE Defender is the best. It has more maneuverability than anything else. Powerful shields, more guns (ion guns) and a hypderdrive. The X-wing and so on cant take on a TIE Defender in an 'even' match and expect to win. Heck the TIE Avenger/Avanced is even better.

As I only play as the Empire my choice is between the TIE Interceptor and the TIE Defender. Both are great fighters, the Interceptor is important to mix with the Defenders as together they are a deadly combination. -Grand Moff Conway

As the Rebllion I start off with mainly X-Wings, they're great all rounders. I tend to build a few Y-Wings for some more firepower - though end up scrapping them.

After that B-Wings start to dominate. I find they get destroyed quicker than X-Wings when part of the same fleet - because they're targeted first. A goodmixture of B's and X's cuts through most Imperials.

I still use A-Wings as Interceptors. The AI will alwaysgo for my B's, so by leaving them at the fleet, I can my A's to hit them from far away and then let the B-Wings loose when they're in range of my cruisers.

As for favourite fighter: In Rebellion . . . and Rebellion era - B-Wing

in the EU, it's the E-Wing

Yeah but nothing beats the Modly Crow. Especially with Kyle Katarn at the helm. The moldy crow is my all time favoite ship.

Although the TIE Defender has shields and more firepower, the speed and maneuverability of the TIE Interceptor make it my favorite. Had the Empire been able to produce more of them I think many battles might have ended differently (though their lack of warheads makes them slightly less effective overall compared to the TIE Defender or X-Wing).

As the Empire I always build up all my fleets with TIE Intercepters. The only Defenders I have are on Coruscaunt, as defense. I only use Fighters until the Intercepter is "invented". I never touch Bombers.

As the Rebels, I use a mix of X and A-wings. I never build Y-Wings, and only a few fleets have some B-wing support, depending on the galactic situation.

I always try and keep a balance of fighters and bombers. Even when my fleet is loaded mostly with TIE Interceptors I keep enough for two sizable "groups" of bombers.

In my last game as the Rebels I found that a single "group" of B-Wings was enough to deal with most of the twenty-five SSDs I had to deal with. And since I had two "groups", I could probably have dealt withe the entire Imperial fleet without moving my capitol ships.

Whoa whoa whoa, how did you get the Imperials to build that many Super Star Destroyers?

I'm not really sure how they built that many, I was as surprised as you. I hadn't reduced their cost at all. What was even more surprising was that they still had a fleet comprised of ISDs after that.

I usually produce gobloads of y-wings for two reasons.

One: they are my favorite alliance fighter.

Two: Makes the game harder.

  • 3 weeks later...

The fact that the rebels have virtually no bombardment capactity and 0 capital ships with Ion cannon makes Y's important in the early game if they have any fleet engagements. I usually build escort carriers in groups of 3, 2 filled with X wings, and 1 with Y's early on, with corvettes and medium transports for troop capacity.

Rebels early game if they don't have any native shipyards are extremely vulnerable, its just a matter of the imps taking out their construction and shipyard worls in a hurry.

How do I set the laser printer to stun?

For the Empire - Tie Defender all of the way, Alliance - X-wings mostly with some B-wings.

Ditto on that, with the exception of replacing A-wings with X-wings. For the Empire, the same applies when the Tie Defender first appears. I have mostly Tie Interceptors with few Tie Defenders, and use the Defenders as "bait".

Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?
