Hmmm, so we're not really going to get a decent model editor unless JediGreg makes one for us in Reb 2

Ummm, I don't know if I get your question right Elvis, but like a legendary soccer coach once

said : 'I'm gonna answer the question I thought you asked' :)

 

-The model editor can be any 3D modelling program. You just have to :

a) be able to export your model to the .x format , or

b) to the 3ds format and convert that with with the tools I suggested, or

some other.

 

The Resource Hacker prog is just for getting the models into the game, nothing else.

Right. Ok, well, i'm rubbish at editing anyway, so it doesn't really matter. I'll just stick to playing the games.

The models I convert are all from other people, so far. I'm no pro at 3d progs as well, but I know some basics and until now that was enough :wink:

I can't barely make two rooms in the deus ex level builder. I am an ignoramus when it comes to designing, i tend to pontificate much better. I give out ideas and concepts. I let other people make them and refine my raw unthought-out ideas. And then i play with the end result. Basically i'm a lazy ignorant twat!

I don't know much about editing, but I know that Gmax is freeware (and made by the same people as 3ds max, specifically for games), and Milkshape 3d is shareware.. if you use both of those (surely one of them can convert to .X, I think Milkshape converts to almost anything) then you'll be able to make models for Rebellion, legally.

That leads me back to a question from my tutorial : does anyone know of plugins for gmax ? Especially one that will let gmax export to 3ds ?

I tried the plugs from 3dsmax, no use.

Google just found a with Lightwave plugs, I gotta check them out if they are, what I was looking for.
