:arrow: I hate the US capitalist way of doing stuff. They are all under contract to say nothing and show nothing. Still I have great news. I have just been informed that EaW will be public thursday at the Star Wars Celebration III in Indiana. So if anyone is near pls go with a camera or a hidden one.

Most of the ships are still not scaled correctly.

 

The textures look good, but the ISD is missing some dents along the side edges.

I really don't know how to help this kid and I really want to help him since he really loves EaW. I also wanted to make such a site in the past but the project went could....who knows maybe I will be lucky one day and a new site will appear.

May I suggest you getting 'your contacts' to contact the SWRebellion admin directly then (not via you). I'm sure the President of Petroglyh is anxious to extend his hand of friendship to us. :roll:

 

Perhaps as proof of your continued communication with these programmers you FORWARD the emails and corrospondance with them to Evaders or Jedi Igor as PROOF you are in such contact, and not just making it all up. It would be a reasonably normal thing to do. I would have already done it in your position. :idea:

The suggestion that you may be making your contacts up is far from silly dude. Put yourself in everybody else's shoes: say for example I had said I had contact with the developers of Galactic Battlegrounds or Jedi Outcast before they were released; you as an obviously interested party would be more than curious to test my credability and authenticity in my claims of 'insider-knowledge.'

Well, I was just browsing around Lucasarts site, looking at BF II and thinking does everything have to glow now?

Anyway, I "stumbled" into the EaW section, and found a few interesting screenies up:

These shot gave me great excitement at seeing the distance you can zoom out on the battlefield, after all we've already seen numerous times that you can zoom up to infantry, though now you can zoom right out to get a great look of the battlefield.

Not the first shot showing an SD breaking apart. What's interesting is that they're not going to have the ships just going "kaboom", but maybe fall apart in the process. This shot also makes it look like this VSD has suffered serious damage and is still fighting.

 

So, the game still looks promising, and less like the usual Lucasart cop-out games of late (Battleground, battlefront anyone?).

While I agree that would be cool I can't spot the place where the SD is actually breaking apart. Can you tell me where exactly the SD is falling apart? It looks all in one piece exception for that fire on the tip.

Hmm, but I'm sure even XWA had it, they just put blaster marks textures on it, it's not very hard :-\.

Maybe for their sequel they'll make it more like Rebellion ;).

Though the glow effect has been added to quite a few games coming up in an effort to "pretty" it up. A bit like the upcoming Morrowind, though BFII is just over baord.

Would seem obvious, though the last few 3d rts I've played don't allow you to zoom out all that much. Look at Generals, Warcraft III and even FoCom (yeah, not new - but in the same field) didn't zoom out that much.

Lately, the engines are more designed around soley being able to zoom in and see all the detail they've put into their models. Which is all good, and can be useful in some battles - though as I've found with Generals it becomes extremely annoying when you're trying to fight on a large front.

Of course, I'm yet to try any of the Total War series and judging form what you and GAT have said about those games I doubt they're plagued with the problem.

Well, the VSD is loosing its nose, and there's a screeny earlier on with an ISD breaking completely apart, which is it obviously being completely destroyed.

The rest was more or less hopeful expectation that it wasn't beeing destroyed in that shot, just badly damaged.

Tones of games have decal damage effects, and XWA had ship breaking apart once they were completely destroyed.

EaW seems to have both, which once more just a graphical feature - though I'd assume it would mean that they'd need more time for repairs and they'd loose more systems/weapon implacements or something apart from a big 'ol chunk of metal :roll:

I guess I'm more or less trying not to write this game out like the most of the other SW games to have came out lately. This is probably the only one I'm looking forward to, and it seems it's just going to be a change of pace.

or it could of been not just a few fightes but squadrons as someone suggested and all doing torp runs at the same time on a ship with it's sheilds down :D

I don't think so Colonel, in the first picture we can see some amount of energy which i belive to be the shield's bar (blue), so bye bye shieldless theory. Next we must put our passion apart and be realistic, if my counting is correct we have, 6 Y-Wings, 3 A-Wings and 13 X-Wings (i´m taking that each craft symbolizes one fighter) aside the A-Wings which are not well suited for starship's attack since they're fighter interceptors, the Y-Wing is a dedicated bomber and the X-Wing is a mix of bomber/interceptor, and you know well as i do what that damn fighter is capable of and even though for all the capabilities of the great Imperator it's suited to repel fighters, especially those nasty rebel fighters so i don't find, what we see in the pictures, all to suprising.

 

WHEREEEE ARE THOSE DAMNED TIEs WHEN WE NEED THEM!!!!!! lolololol
