Ohayo,

I am a great Japan fan (I love Japan!), and I like mangas too. ;)

Lately I saw a "new" one, named Gokusen.

I am now a great fan of that Tv show as well with the cartoon and manga.

If you happen to be a "Shojo"(girlish) manga fan, give it a try...

The story is about a young college professor having troubles with students, kind of GTO (great teacher Onizuka) but with a Lady professor raised by Yakuzas.

It's even more funny if you know a little of Japanese culture.

If any of you have seen great anime movies, please tell me. :D

Take care,

JagaN

Welcome to the forums!!!

I quite like the serie called "Hellsing".

On the film side: i really enjoyed Princess Mononoké. It is a beautiful film and really worth a see.

Akira didn't have much of a plot, great animation though (needless to say). Robot Carnival also had some stuff by the same animator.

Best Japanimation movie I've ever seen was Grave of the Fireflies, a very good movie by any standard. Not sure if it would be considered "manga" though.

Put an overpowered Solar Ionization Reactor in between two cheap-ass engines and a couple of laser cannon, put a chair with a rudimentary flight control and targeting computer on top, and surround the (unpressurized!) pilot with enough armor plate so he doesn't fry in a tenth of a second... riiiiiiiiight

Grave of the Fireflies and Princess Mononoke were great, I'll agree. My favourites are Cowboy Bebop (series as well as the movie) and Jin-roh, and Ghost in the Shell is up there among the classics.

As for Mangas, I've quite enjoyed those by Rumiko Takahashi, especially the older ones (great humor in there).

Actually I really don'T like manga/anime as I think it's quite shematic and full with kitsch.

But I saw some of them in the past and I must say I loved the Street Fighter Victory series. A very good storyline for an otherwise brainless game. :)

The second one was Chihiro (Spirited Away) which was absolutely bloody amazing to watch. Never saw anything like that coming from anime creators before. Highly recommended for anybody.

Ghost in the Shell was fun too, but I'm not sure it was that good as all say.

Can't say I'm a big fan. I've seen some: Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away.

Others I have that I haven't watched: Nausicaa, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Kiki's Delivery Service

Fighting is terrible, but not as terrible as losing the will to fight.

Not much of an Anime-Manga fan either, only series I watched is an old series called Saint Seiya (sometimes translated as Zodiac Knights or something). Found that one pretty good, any other I tried to watch bored me pretty fast.

Well it seems almost all kinds of animes are represented here. :)

But mostly Miyazaki's and animated movies, not so many Tv shows.

That's all good to hear, there are no DB (whatever) fans here, for it's

almost a disgrace to call it a Mangas, though I saw the chines DB movie that is probably one of the worst movies ever, even worse than Hokuto no Ken (Ken the ...survivor?) that was an american production with Malcom Mac Dowell as the "old Chinese Master".

Lately I am "collecting" many mangas, like the new Saint Seiya series

(hadès,13 episodes on DvD); Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, Gokusen,

Rurouni Kenshin and many more...

Peace.
