Okay, so it looks like a lot of people have Rapora Wars ads and quote all over the place, yet I've never heard of it. By what I understand, this is either or both an RPG in the forums and a TC for Rebellion. Is this true? Also, I'm curious now, what's the storyline/plot?

No, perhaps not...

 

Mine was probably was an unexpected release of stress, caused by a nocive combination of Real Life and occasional forumers that just drop oneliners demanding quick answers or links for everything... [sigh]

 

I'll give you a quick answer about the plot of the Rapora Wars.

 

It's set about 8 years following the end of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, Grand Admiral Thrawn's second clone is alive and the Jedi have helped rebuild the galaxy after the Invasion.

 

Then a series of attacks occur, which leave the Jedi perplexed as to who the attackers are, as they use lightsabers. Near the Imperial borders and Chiss borders there are attacks on outposts. The conflict begins to escalate as the Raporan fleet leave their homeplanet by order of their leader, the mysterious 'Timeless One'.

 

Lots of subplots are derived as the Rapora begin a campaign of ruthless conquest aided by terrible warmachines while the Chiss Consortium and the Imperial Remnant struggle for survival. There's a whole Force subplot, Imperial, Mandalorian, Chiss and Thrawn subplots in tehre. This last paragraph refers to our RP, the former two refer to Stellar's introduction to the story.

It sounds very intriguing. Will the Empire of the Hand's 501st Stormtrooper Legion ("Vader's Fist"), as seen in Survivor's Quest and the ebook novella "Fool's Bargain", be making or have already made an appearance? If they haven't, and no one minds, I would be very happy to join in and put in that subplot, the only problem is I'm not up-to-date on the Vong and other NJO. Hmm...perhaps I shouldn't since I could turn out to be a bigger problem than contributer.... By the way (I know, another one-liner, but I haven't read far enough in the EU to know and any resource other than my friends will give away more than I want), what becomes of the Empire of the Hand during the later NJO? Do they join the Chiss Consortium or...? (please, try not to give away too much plot) And don't worry, once that question is answered, I'll stop posting off topic here (sorry, I don't mean any disrespect to this thread, especially since I'm not in it or anything).

The Empire of the Hand has already had an appearance, one of the first Imperial - Rapora battle was fought and lost by the Empire over Nirauan. Csilla is also gone. There is still another EoH ofshoot around, and there's still what remains of the Chiss.

Actually the Chiss and the Empire of the Hand are only minimally featured in NJO. The late NJO Plot focus on the Jedi rather than on the macro-political system, even though there are some changes. As the Vong have already been dealt with in the RP, I don't think there's much to do for them. One of the characters is a Vong but there isn't much reference to the invasion.

 

Try reading some of the first pages of the RP to get a general idea of how it started. There shouldn't be too many spoilers there.

Perhaps I should go into a little more detail as to the situation with the Empire of the Hand because they haven't made a recent appearance in the RP.

 

During the evacuation of Nirauan Admiral Voss Park was killed, along with a sizeable proportion of the garrison there. The actual size of the Empire of the Hand really isn't fully established, and compared to the United Defense Alliance they aren't going to be as effective against the Rapora.

 

SOCL, You've given me an idea, the remnants of the Chiss Consortium and Empire of the Hand really need to open a second front on the Rapora to give the GFFA and Empire a chance to rebuild and take a breath. Perhaps the UDA will send some of their forces to support the effort.

Hiya, just wanted to drop in and comment on your pic there and maybe about what is wrong with it. You got the rendering and shadow well done to an extent, but you lack in knowledge about anatomy.

 

For quick, good results, go look for source images. Photos. Then paint over them. And I don't mean ctrl-v an imp uniform over it or splashing a Color mode brush over it to make the faces blue or such, but create a new layer and trace the outlines.

Get the positions of eyes, nose, hair, and some important anatomical landmarks, and maybe some shadows. Then start painting from those outlines.

(Well, other techniques may suit you better, but this is one.)

 

But sometimes even a well-made photo-manip like the ones we've already seen from you work better than painted images (achieving photo-realism is something I'm very far from, too)

 

Now I don't know how much interest you have in art stuff, and I realize this is not an art forum (although you might want to check these out, they're a great place of learning and inspiration), so I'm leaving out the extended critique for now, but if you want, I'll dissect your picture thoroughly later on.

Yeah as Fishy says it's easier to work from an existing photgraph, or a composite of them and manipulate them in Photoshop into a drawing-like image. Instead of working a drawing into phtorealism. (That's in fact how the Original Reb pictures were done)

You could use the Mandalorian fleet also, Im sure they would love a chance to try their hand at pounding Reporan naval vessels.

I suppose there's so much stuff in Star Wars, esp. the EU, thatwe could go on for days and days naming stuff to us. For instance, what ever happened to the Sovereign-class ships being constructed in the years after Endor and before the Emperor's cloned return? Granted, they were never completed with some people saying they were scrapped by various warlords to help create the different warlord fleets following the events of Dark Empire, but isn't it possible to theorize that their uncompleted hulls were merely hidden away somewhere?

The Flagship of the Imperial Remnant is a Sovereign II Class Super Star Destroyer.

 

For some reason the other players had the GFFA build an Eclipse class Star Destroyer, and I'm not going to stop hunting that thing until its dead... It shouldn't exist!
