LOL... Trej, I'm an American and I have trouble understanding what he wrote.

NO I'M NOT GETTING BF2 BECAUSE BF IS A FREAKIN ARCADE GAME!!!

I do own BF1942 and modified it to be realistic, but overall my opinion of the game was...stupid, stupid, stupid. I'll play BF modded but I won't play vanilla, ever again! The engine is showing its age, and if these people had any brains they'd be working with codemasters on OFP 2, thats what I'll get.

I think battlefield 2 will be much better than the 2. Now there will be general giving orders without participating in the fighting.

The only problem I had with it was just how accurate the guys were, that was easy to fix though. :D

I am going to buy it, it looks real cool. And there are so many new things with the squads and all the rest. Man it really looks cool. Sorry Bobandrubert, but I have already joined an other clan. The squad thing really sounds good, and the commander. It really gives an other side to the game. I would have a good laugh when I have a fight against a General. What are your favorite classes? SM, you said that hte engine is showing its age. Are they still using the same one for BF 2? From the screen shots I'd say it looks like they've given it a huge face-lift.

I loved BF 1942, perhaps more for the genre than for the game play, though there were some seriouse problems with weapon accuracy, especially with the sniper rifles (couldn't seem to hit anything half the time).

Bf Vietnam was a total waste of money, so if BF 2 is goingto be a clone of that, no thanks. I don't have to many games where the company has to release a patch that's over 100 mb... but then, releasing any patch is a hard thing for EA to do.

I'll wait and see what kind of feedback I hear about it before I get it, if at all. I don't mind the arcade style gaming of the BF series, I think it makes it a little more multiplayer friendly, but I think the game needs to add something, and make the factions more diversified, which hasn't really been done in the FPS games out there (save for Call of Duty that, by giving the allies all their best weapons, and sticking the germans with the Kar. 98, managed to really diversify  ).

I have a fealing EA might actually pull it off with this one, but CoD 2 will be out a little while after, so they might have a fight ahead of them.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello Hello,

I can't wait to see BF2, though I won't be able to play it without a serious upgrade...

For the original Bf series I think only the basic is real good, all the expensions somehow sucked and bring few improvements.

As for the Vietnam issue (so much fun), that killed the principle of team balance .

I now use Desert Combat, and I am pretty happy of it; with some funny new vehicules, and the awesome new engineer class.

That is my best choice !

Still I wish I had a bigger comp...

Take care.

JagaN.

For thos players of BF1942 who want to expand the game a bit I suggest you download the Forgotten Hope mod.

It adds more than 250 vehicules and makes them appear depending on which periode you are playing.

the only problem is that its 2Go in size.

Of Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam, and probably Battlefield 2, I have a feeling that the former will have the longer life, despite EA's attempts at prolonging Vietnam with their "Redux" release.

As good as Battlefield 2 looks, EA's marketing strategy is sort of putting me off buying it. Sure, the game might be good, but of late they've been releasing bug-plagued games and then moving on. Battle for Middle Earth is a prime example. There's still a huge community playng it, but so far EA is almost two months behind on their promissed patch v1.2, and by the time they do release is (slated for March 28-April 8 ), it will be another month on top of that. But what can you expect from a company that took most of the developers for BFME off the project just before they released the game and handed them another project in the form of Red Alert 3 (which in its self is a money grab)

I guess this is why so many EALA employees have been quitting and moving on. I'm just getting sick of all these companies putting out sub-par products one after another for the sake of meeting that quarter's goal, while the little guy's games don't get recognition in the form of a full page add in PC Gamer simply because they don't have the financial backing.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.
