Well to make gifs. You need two things: an animator (I don't know if photoshop has one but I use the one who who come with Paintshop pro 8 ie Animation Shop 3. You can also use Ulead GIF Animator which is a very good animator. You can download a trial version here:

http://www.download.com/Ulead-GIF-Animator/3000-2186-5422267.html

I shall do the tutorial using Ulead)

And a program such as Paintshop or Photoshop

First you need to create the pics that you will use a in your animation. Use your drawing program for this. Make all the pics the same size.

Then open your animation program, in most of these their is an Animation Wizard.

Start by entering the dimensions of your gif. Then click next.

Now you must chose the images you shall use in the gif. Click Add Images and Select your pics(you can select several at a time)

Now set the time each image will appear before being replaced by the next. And then click next

Nearly finished. Now just check the pics are in the right order(drag them into the right place if they are not). You can change different things such as the time the pic the pic shall apear before being replaced by right clicking on a pic and selecting "Frame properties"

If you press the preview tab you can watch your pic and make sure it looks good.

Don't forget to save the gif after all this

There hope it helps :D

Its more you who inspired me. :D

Could you perhaps add my avatar to your gif

Click about here! and your request has been granted!

Given this has drifted into over 100 frames, 256 kb, and no amount of lossy capable of reducing the file size without killing the quality; that is well and truely that! Download it to your hd's before I clear this one from my hosting space. What I love about photoshop is the realization that when you are thrilled about learning something new you lrealize there is so much yet to uncover! :) Someone I work with glanced at the first effort and remarked casually he could have done the same at half the file size without any lossy!

Scathe: Photoshop is where our images are created; it's in ImageReady where we mash them together into animation. It took me ages to figure out exactly how, but it's infront of your eyes in the animation tool bar. There's a button that unleashes alsorts of obvious stuff....

Jahled's said it. It isn't in Photoshop, but rather in Imageready in the animation toolbar you animate the Gif frame per frame, though some dissolve effects are already built in. You may have to toy around with the "Optimization" windows to properly export your "animated PSD file" into a gif, without too much loss. Damn 256 colors...

Well, it's really more of a flash cartoon, but I can't get the song out of my head!

Interesting finds dudes! :)

I've been to busy to muck in myself to much of late, but did find this earlier today; part of IKEA's new range of bedroom decor...

How shall we destroy Sweden...

I also thought this might make you laugh; I found it in my company's archives this afternoon, and have yet to figure out how to make the poor fella move other than his eyelids fully collapsing.... who knows what might happen later... 8O

Curse you GAT, I can't stop listening to that song!

I've got the same problem, though I also find myself singing it all day long. There is another flash animation that sort of relates to that, but it has some rather foul language, so I won't post it here.

Made this after remembering something Scath or Trej said.

Well here is the flash animation. I imagine someting similar will happen to me shortley since I still have the song stuck in my head. Just as long as no one throws a T.V. remote at me.

Well, this is sort of on topic. Can any one tell me why my new sig isn't working. It's suppose to be an animated gif, but it's only showing the first frame, and I think my MSN group cut it down to that one frame too.

It was a little bit... ok really big for a .gif, it was 1.46 meg, but that still doesn't answer my question. So? Anyone?

Thats probably because, in a blind rage, I deleted the file from my MSN Group:oops:. Now when I try to upload it again, it either tells me I've exceeded my alloted space (a load of crap as I only have a 30kb file there, the gif is 1.46 meg, and I get 3 meg of space), or simpley loads the first frame, tells me that it's taking up the full 1.46 meg, but tells be the file is only 5k in size.

I could reduce it, but the problem is that the colour quality is sacrificed. It started out as a 21 meg gif, so I think I've done quite well :) .

The reason it's so big is that I recorded an avi of part of ESB, opened it in Animation Shop, cropped it, cut some frames out, optimized it, and the result is what I have now.Rather, what I would have now if the bloody thing would work.
