Well you could call it the U.S. standard now i guess since the Brits don't use it anymore.

Trej, Being a Vong you should be able to support the heat.

I really do wish the USA would switch to metric, celcius, and everything else the rest of the world uses...it'd be easier. I tell you, looking back I wish I had been allowed to use decimals and meters in grade school versus fractions and feet. :x

I have always used the metric and celcius system but I guess i could get about with the feet but i never really managed to get around the inches.

Pretty much taught both these days.. if you're big in the science/technical areas, you'll use metric much more.

Metric and clecius just make life so much easier! :D For instance, it's easier to explain to a kid that 0 degrees means water freezes, not 32. And what about trying to explain 12 inches in a foot, 3 feet in a yard, a strange-number of feet in a mile.... It just isn't consistent.

No, good ol' metric just says, "Move the decimal." And celcius, well, what is the point of measure temperature off the freezing point of mercury? :? I mean, who the hell truely cares (by who, I mean the common person); celcius with its logical basing off the freezing point of water is so much better! :D

Yes, but health-related areas, you want to know if you're above normal body temperature. More accurate measurements found it was 98.6 deg F. But oh well. If you're reading above 100 deg F, then you know you're probably sick. If the temperature outside is above 100 def F, you must be really really hot.

Celsius was only adopted in the late 1960s/early 1970s anyway. ;)

I can't see your point. The precise body temperature is 37.3°C and if you are reading over 40° then you are sick.

Was adopted where? I don't think most of the world would have used fahrenheits before. And Kelvin are definitely out of question...

And 32° F is freezing water, anything less and you start getting snow :)

We can scale things in whatever way. It's just a matter of what's customary.

And actually

The Fahrenheit scale was widely used in many English-speaking countries until the Celsius (formerly centigrade) scale was adopted in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Good point, yet I still think that all countries sould stick to standard SI units and use the centigrade scale.

BTW, centigrade scales was already adopted by most non-english countries in the late XIX century...

I think enough of this. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong.

It's just a preference thing.

Makes it annoying getting weather reports from different areas, but eh... what can you do. :)

Haha, that would be great if Klevin was adopted out of the scientific community.

It's currently 287 Kelvin and pretty cold outside (nowhere near cold enough for snow at least), last week was better with it reaching 305 Kelvin . . . well it least it wasn't cold

Speaking of accounts being all weird, when I log in, my account registers all posts as already having been read yet I haven't read any of them, much less logged in in the recent few days! :x Additionally, it seems that my avatar changes its mind every few days as to whether it wishes to work correctly! :x Furthermore, when I click on a forum, I get an error page, but then if I click the back button and click once again on the forum name, it loads correctly! :x

EDIT: Okay...now everything is working correctly.... :?

The posty thing happens to me as well when it wants to be annoying. The avatar thingy is because it's hosted on our little Yoda has big ears msn newsgroup; which also like not to work when it's feeling fiendish...

About accounts being weird, my account keeps making all the new posts in the forums 'read'. In other words, posts that are new and have yet to read are not orange, instead they're all the color for 'Read'. Anyone experience this same problem?

Occasionally I will head into the forums, but decide to go elsewhere before I spend alot of time replying, and despitethe fact that I haven't entered a specific forum, all of the posts are marked as being read.

I haven't had this occur right off the bat, without having to enter the forums at all however.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Actually, that sounds closer to what happens to me.
