Well i think the hole point is that before when the sun was still at its beginning and not so large our planet would have been just as cold. I am not even sure if we had water yet at that time.

Actually, the Sun was hotter in its beginnings, not cooler, so Earth would have been a smouldering heap of rock. I think that they have hypothisized that Titan was once like Earth, or at least in some respects. This is basically the same process that has been going on on Mars, though I personally find Titan of more interest.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Interessting.

In a few million years the earth's "shape" will have greatly changed.

There may only be one big continent left the rest of the earth being covered in water. The middle of the continent would be rather desertic and the north would surely be tropical like forests.

I'm not really bothered about a few million years in the future given my bones will have long returned to the essance of the cosmos; but, isn't this an achievement of the joint European Space Agencies working together?

Don't call me an old hippy, but what more could be achieved with North America's massive financial resources, Russia's, China's, and India's not least. Working together.... ***throws beer can at CD Player playing 'Imagine,'***

Stuff like this only increases my tatered faith in humanity, in some wishfull thinking way. If only....

Scientists think Titan may be like an infant Earth because of its atmosphere and what they believe the atmosphere is doing. There are supposedly a lot of chemical reactions taking place in it, powered by sunlight, and the thinking is that these same types of chemical reactions are what eventually led to life on Earth.

TIE pilots shake at the sound of my name! ...Hey, wait! You're not supposed to be shaking with laughter!

Which way did they go? How many of them were there? How fast were they going? I must find them! I am their LEADER!

One day the hole earth population will unite and maybe peace will reign.

There used to be some text here about finding water on Titan but I deleated it.

Edit numero dos: This was because I was listening to the radio whilst inserting bits of tree into a shreader and didn't hear the news correctly. :?

I investigated and found this very interessting. Apparently Titan is evolving in the same way as the earth did.

Fascinating stuff M78!

Just think, in about six million years we will be able to send envoys on behalf of humanity and greet some form of primordial semi-sentient plasma! Yay!

Only kidding!

I read today that they are thinking of not continuing to service the Hubble telescope due to the high costs involved. :(

I have grown quite used to looking at the images like this one before I go to bed.

I tried to read more http://hubble.nasa.gov/news/latest.php but couldn't find anything which is a little odd.

:? I remember reading somewhere about an initiative to repair and update te Hubble Space Telescope and keep it running.

The space pictures are very nice. I'm still amazed by the Eye of God.

The hole story was that it needed to be serviced and the NASA wasn't keen on paying the money.

I personnaly believe it would cost more to put a new on in orbit.

There was a petition for saving the telescope.

:?::?

Your Beak-powers overwelm you dude!

Where are all these alien civilizations? We haven't heard a word, and quite frankly they've had several billion years to be broadcasting their equivelent of 'crap soap opera aired nightly for your displeasure,' for us to detect here on what is quite frankly Tattooine.

Nothing.

I don't doubt the evolotion of matter on other system bodies, I am just convinced of the impossibility of faster than light travel. Something other than than mid-west American Farmers scared shitless by entities yet unknown would have bothered to be here by now. For ham? :?
