okay. i've not played rebellion in a loooong time. had the game for aboot 2 years. in that time i have beaten the game a total amount of times: 1

no joke i have beaten the game once in 2 years. on easy. sad i know. yesterday i was tiring of bridge commander and i said 'ya know wat! im gunna beat rebellion AGAIN!' so i need tips on how to succeed. in ALL my other games my opponent jumps into a sector with small fleet(isd, couple carracks) and hops around killing my planets! i have quite a bit of trouble staying alive. in my one game i won it was a total fluke. i gathered all my ships at my hq in th outer rim(bakura to be exact) it was quite an array of ships... okay it was a hodge-podge... damaged mon cals, corvettes, 1/2 strength fighter squads, but the pride of the fleet was the 3 bulwarks. in a stunning display of military tacticianship(exaggeration of century:P) my kitbash fleet routed the imperials at coruscant(think battle of endor :P ) and i took out the imperials because of the sheer size of the fleet. i felt so good. i found vader on corellia, just as another huge imperial fleet dropped in there after i scooped him up. couple ssds so i was glad i finally "won". so i want tips on how i can not suck @ this game! i would like to play as the imps and win but coruscant is way 2 vunerable. i like the rebs vesatility with their base moving ability. im not too good @ micro managing so i needs major tips there. wat kinda of fleets should i made, how can i get shipyards up fast while still getting good maintanence points, mines etc. how can i counter the hit and runs the imps/rebels make mid game? watever tips u can give on how to micromanage my troops/fleets/resources/gaining planets and how to give my any edge i can, as rebel or imperial would be GREATLY appreciated. thanx for all your help!

Okay

1) tell your agent to manage troops and ressources

2) as soon as the game starts pause and look on your different planets and send those who have a reasonable diplomacy rating (above 60) to go and start converting planets to your cause.

3) if you are the rebels your base will be on the outer rim and have some transports posted at it. Use these to go and colonise sectors on the rim.

Also try and specialise some outer rim planets in construction of troops, facilites and shipyards.

There that sould help you start up.

Basically at the begining of the game fleets will only have a little impact on the game but you should try and have one in each sector. And try to put them on the more important planets.

To note that AI fleets tend to attack one system go on to another and then come back to the one they attacked first. Knowing this is rather useful.

The trick for building shipyards is too find a uncolonised or just about uncolonised sector (outer rim) in the sector find a planet with about 8 or ten power slots. colonise the planet and build 3 construction yards for it on another planet. Once the first of the three yards has arrived , start building some more yards for the planet using the three yards who arrived.

Once you have a secret (the AI doesn't know about it) planet from which you can build facilities find another planet (preferably in the same sector) with minimum 10 power slots.

On this one build your shipyards. Once the first shipyards have arrived on loacation start building up a fleet to defend the sector and reinforce your HQ (maybe move it to the sector) once you have finished building the shipyards i recommend you build some training facilites on another planet (in the same sector) with minimum 6 power slots.

There you go you now have a sector fully equipped to build up a fleet and facilities. Of course you should do this in several sectors and continue doing diplomacy mission.

For the fighters the empires best are Interceptors and Defenders

for the Alliance its A-Wing and B-Wings.

Try to always have 2 X-Wing for 1 Y-Wing.

Hope this helps

so what should i do about mines and all tht stuff, and would using tht strategy apply to playing as the empire too? and wat ships should i build(imperial and alliance) in the beginning of the game for decent defensive fleets?

Let the agent manage the mines and reffineries.

You could apply the strategie to the Empire but you would have to build a transport on one of your shipyards (if you don't yet have a transport in one of your fleets) to start and colonise the outer rim.

About ships. I suggest you read the encyclopedia and note which ships have a reasonable power with a rather low cost. Anyway, at the moment when you will really need to have a powerful fleet your researchers will already have discovered improved ships such as: Correlian gunship, Nebulon-B, VSD II, Mon Calamari and so on.

But don't forget that to get about in Rebellion. The best strategie is to experiment. The first game I won took me 3 days.

So try different ways to gain victory. Try this strategie but while you do try and find your own

okay i was doing pretty well tht time i played! i managed to get to coruscant with a fleet large enuff to keep away all but a decent sized fleet. i hadnt been attacked in a while, my 9 shipyard system was doing well, but sadly wedge was assassinated. so here is my dilemma: i couldnt get the planetary shields down! they had 2 gencore I's there and i couldnt take them out--even with page, 4 infiltrator teams and another guy. i had the planet blockaded for a year, from day 1000-1350 and then disaster struck: a fleet of 1 ssd, 2 ISD, 3 VSD and assorted smaller craft obliterated my fleet, but i managed to hit the ssd pretty hard. then a smaller fleet i had scared them off and i was around coruscant again--vader and palpy there too! but again shields wont get blowed up so i gave up tht game.... can ya give some tips on how to make my teams more effective as imps and rebels and also i noticed tht i dont really build troops... i just dont, dunno why--guess i need to get into tht but my strike teams are the worst... got ne tips to mak'em kick ass?

Okay i you game i would continue to blockade the planet while simultaneously

building a fleet to continue and hunt down the imps.

A good idea would be to conquer a planet in the Sesswenna (the coruscant on) sector and pack the planet with infiltrators. The send them by groups of three (one acting as a decoy) on to targets... Five groups on each target

continue blockading and reinforcing your blockade fleet. once its powerful anouht the will be able to blast the shields.

Or you could send Luke to try and capture Vader and Palp but they may capture him.

And since at this point you should have several big training camps. So ask one to build a heap of recon Y-Wings to go and explore the system you haven't yet explored.
