An IGN Preview of the Game, they discuss some things as multiplayer and an answer whether the tactical battles are 3D or not. (They are much like Rebellions, as they deal with multiple 2-D layers)

 

The more I read of it the more it reminded me of a bizarre, simplified version of Reb

You must've misunderstood them.. the battle is on a 2d plane, however ships of different sizes have different Z coordinates, so you can order a bunch of X-Wings to hover above your Mon Calamari cruiser and so they'll take up the same X, Y, coordinates, but you can't order two mon calamari cruisers to be on top of each other. Also, the ships can't switch their Z coordinates.. it's preassigned.

 

Conclusion, it's in 2d (with 3d graphics), don't start being confused :).

Jedi Igor, to me it sounds that it is 3D with only predefined Z koordinates and not as "there is the moncal level and there is the corvette level". (So, you can place your ship at X=1.007,Y=3.4 and Z=3, but you cannot place it to X=1.007,Y=3.4 and Z=2.7.)

Ships rise and sink from one plane to another automatically, not under command.. that is if you want your Y-Wings to do a bombing run on an ISD, they will have to switch Z planes in order to do it, but once you order them to move, they will go back to their default plane.

Guys...! Petroglyphgames are not like other game makers...they are very open and polite. They already know about our SWR supported mods.....and they will keep and eye on this place. As a mather a fact to help in your disscution I will email Cristy Huender (game design EaW) to take a look at this topic ;)

 

I will also ask them if they will consider SWR as a "Almost Official" forum for the EaW game. But them I will let them to decide.

Well, last time I checked LEC doesn't listen to fan ideas. I'd be very surprised if it was otherwise with EaW since Petroglyph is working under LEC.

Just because Petroglyph is working under LEC doesn't mean they will addapt LECs business methods. I nessence, LEC has said "Ok, here's the type of game we want to make, you develope it". They've basically been given free reign over the game, with LEC's only roll being the distributer of the licence.

 

I've read wonderful things about Petroglyph, and have the utmost confidence in them.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Personally, considering other games that Westwood released (Command and Conquer: Tiberium Dawn and Tiberian Sun) that I've found fantastic, I have high hope for Petrogylph and their games.

Almost certainly no - If anything, it would be the LFN site... they always have the support and any other fan site gets screwed

Since EaW will be practicaly Rebellion 2 I will be courious to see if the Rebellion Reloaded will move foward .... so I will have the satisfaction to say "- I told you so ! ...the secrecy will not work !"

 

Whilst I have always agreed with you on the secret members area bit completely; before you may I add, (all it has done is delay the project's release date as people come and go as they frustratingly do with online life... :? ), and can only thus conclude it would have been finnished years ago with public imput; yours as well by the way Cain since you vannished from helping us out with your obvious talents from your own projects; I do detect a tab bit of over-exitement concerning this release! None of us have had the experiance of playing it yet, so it might well be completely alien to what we have grown used to with Rebellion. A twenty planet galaxy sounds a tab removed from the grand scale of Rebellion to me; as does the lack of any mention of characters one can develop, building and naming ships, etc.

 

Given Lucas Arts are so hit and miss with their titles, I am in no way holding my breath for something close to Rebellion's sequal. Graphic-intensive games are fine, but what I want is imagination as well.

This mod will be finished, come hell or high water.

 

 

I'm sure everyone appreciates your input in getting the developer's attention to our community, but how can you simply expect us to drop everything we've been working so hard for ? I won't and I can't imagine, that the other people, who have stayed in our (Reloaded) development team all the time will give up either.

Better still, why don't you make us an original ingame movie, or some original tactical ship models that shit on what was released with the original game... :?:
