Very nice images, but most of the Star Destroyers are just resized Imperial-class. For instances, the "Allegiance-class" wouldn't have a large ventral hangar like the two Imperial classes... Just being BEAKing.

A worthy beak. If you follow the SW expanded universe with deft geek-accuracy, you will observe there never were stuff like Allegiance-class Star Destroyers (it was the name of a SSD that incredibly was taken out due to surprise), other than in the completely over the top artwork of artists who perhaps care less to attention to the SW universe than geeks who by definition have over analyzed every comic image ever seen, and created an incredible website of pointless detail, now sadly EU 'canon.' Sorry, but force.net is about the saddest thing I've seen, concerning my status as a Star Wars enthusiast, simply down to the dickhead who is comming out with the over the top analysis, given his fanatical attention to things in three decades of SW comics

Now that's for Paul :)

You have a point, Jahled. I don't even know why I bothered posting something like that... :? I honestly used to follow some of that nonsense as though it were some sort of holy scripture, but in time and with the passing of a few years, I've come to realize that over analysis and this concept LucasFilm has of explaining every detail of Star Wars is ruining the franchise--indeed, there remains nearly no mystique to any facet of Star Wars, to include THE FORCE! :x Eck.

I took the old Nebulon, cut it down and made it into a convoy escort.

(I know, the origional is supposed to be a convoy escort too.) It's got improved armour and has roughly the same weapons compliment but can only carry a handful of fighters if any.

As an added bonus, because of the decreased mass it's faster and has a better turning rate.

Kind of off topic, but what would mass and weight matter in space? If you thrust in one direction, you go the same speed the oppisite direction no matter your mass.

I like it though Def. About time the Nebulon-B got some help (fighters). And a little more armor. Thing is always going down, except in the movies...

Acceleration is still dependant on mass (correct me if I'm wrong)

F=ma

Force equals mass times acceleration (I'm a physics student).

But, in space, If an astronaut is not attached to the space shuttle and he drifts too far away, he can take that backpack looking thingy off his back and push off of it. Whatever amount of force the astronaut exerts on the backpack, the same amount of force pushes him in the opposite direction.

So, if a giant space cruiser fires its thrusters in one direction, the ship moves in the opposite direction with whatever amount of force the thrusters exert. It would just take a big push on the other side of the ship to stop the thing from turning, because of the big mass. But in space, that amount of force isn't very hard to come by since no other forces are interrupting the system (gravity, friction, etc.).

Exactly, so mass is still a determining factor. If we transpose the equation it becomes:

A = F/M

And in the case of Def's ship, modifying an existing ship by reducing its mass but keeping the same amount of force it produces (ie. the engine) the acceleration would be improved. Obviously this is all science fiction, and as such we can't slot anything into this equations - but on a completely theoretical level it still works. After all, a ship measuring 300 hundred odd metres, equipped with massive engines, thick armour for combat, weapons, personal etc. it's going to have a rather large mass..ok, huge mass - requiring massive thrust blah blah blah.

But, like Elvis said - it's just science fiction :wink: Doesn't matter if it's perfect, it's fun.

About time the Nebulon-B got some help (fighters).

The origional Nebulon B carried 24 Tie Starfighters. This can only carry about 5 if youre lucky.

In other news, 1. The old tie Starfighter size as listed in Wookiepedia is wrong.

2. I totally screwed up when scaling my old Tie craft (Which I had already figured out.) But have since corrected it! (Sorta.)
