How to find "RebEd Cards" Program

Hi Guys,

I'm searching for a possibility to create my own Ships and Personals, so that I can import it in RebEd.

Within the tutorial (How to..) a program named RebEd Cards is mentioned. I searched the whole net, but all links to this program were broken...

Did anyone have the Url to a download location?

Thanks,

Greetz,

Well if you want to make cards you have to make the pic and then load them into rebed. to do this click on one of the cards in rebed and press on the little yellow "E" at the top of the screen you can load cards there. maybe i shall make an updated tutorial on of these days.

There is RebED, and then there's the RebED Card Viewer. There is no seperate program to make cards, so I'm not sure what you are refering to.

Took me several months until I spotted it.

The model?

Well if you are refering to the first model tutorial, that model has been remade and is now under rmd format. download Mask's model importer to install it. It also speeds up considerably any model importation.

This is the model

Hope this helped

 It was also using about 4 times as many polygons.

But for Reloaded I will retexture the ship

By the way... while you are talking about re-texture.. what about a texture for the SSD-2 Model, what makes it more "Executor" like looking. I mean a lot more darker and more Vader-like. Not completely black, but more dark gray colored?!

You mean a texture that makes it look more evil ?

Well sure, I could tone down the colors more, but at some point (sooner than you would expect) the ship would be just a black blotch in tactical :?

Yea, I thought so too. This is the problem for example with the Overloard SSD. Its too dark.

But I guess a little bit more "evil" must be possible *TryToLookHandsome*

Edit: Does anyone know why I can name some ships with more than 20 charackters long names, and others only with five or six charackters ?!

Well the hole thing is that the bmp converter of Vakundok doesn't accept longer names

And btw you could always try and tone down the SSD textures yourself.

just convert the bins into bmps using the bmp converter and modifiy it in a graphic program before putting it back to bins and putting it in the game.

You mean in RebEd ?

Well for that, you have to download Resource Hacker and the dll contents file from the download section here. The file will tell you which files you need to edit, to change the names of the ships.

@the_mask: I guess you don't get me. I mean, the name of the *.rsc Card Ship Classes.

Some classes I can name like "Mon Calamari Mc-90" and some only work with "Mon Cala.", cause I can't type more letters. I don't know how to fix that bug.

Also, I found another bug. I exchanged "Villers" with "Takin". But when I gave "Takin" a rank, like General or Admiral, his name was "General Villers" ;)

I think the_mask got you just fine.

First, you need to know that all text (and all pics, sounds, and models, et cetera) of Rebellion is stored within .dll files.

Secondly, you need to know RebEd has its limitations (as you've no doubt found out) to change these dlls.

It is, for example, not able to change the length of any text. If you'd replace Ackbar's name with A in RebEd, the result would be A and five spaces in Rebellion, because the length of the string wasn't changed. For the same reason, you can't type names or encyclopedia texts longer than the original.

Another thing it can't do is change the rank names of characters. Even if you change "Villar" into "Tarkin", there still is a dll entry with "General Villar".

Now to change this, you need Resource Hacker.

This baby is able to give you a look right into the dlls. There you can change texts to (almost) any desired length, adjust how the ranks affect names, and do more stuff way beyond RebEd. and to find your way inside the dlls, the dll contents file will point you in the right direction. Just be sure to keep a copy of the original dlls around...
