Hi!!...so....

Recommended Posts

Well, I would say that the Bulwark with its fighter escort would overwhelm the Strike cruisers and it's fighters.

Though, why would you pose the question then? My money's on the pair of Strike Cruisers

Well, while it is true that every battle is different, I'm afraid there is no hope for the Strike Cruiser. The fighters with the Bulwark would easily overwhealm the TIE Defenders, leaving the Strike Cruiser at the mercy of the Bulwark. T/Ds are really intended for Death Star Defence.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Well, that would serve to balance things out a little, but in the end the Rebels still have a clear advantage.

not nescessarally (sp?).. the Imperilas have the advantage in fighter support. The 3 Interceptors and 1 Defender and 4 Bombers could easily take out the 1 X-wing, 2 A-wings and 1 B-wing. The remaining fighters, then attacking the Dauntless with the ISD II could take it out, especially if most of the fighters lost are the Interceptors.

With either scenario that you posted the Rebels would win handly.

Even if you do not give the Rebels the Dauntless.

The Bulwark with her 1100 sheild rating + 600 turbolaser and the complement of 10 fighters have enough firepower to take on the Imperial Fleet with few loses.

The only hope for the Imperials in that situtaion is, if they have and Admiral and Commander on their fleet and the Rebels have neither. But that still would not assure a victory.

Like Rebel_Admiral_Rampallion, I'll pose a question on who you think would, or in this case, won a small battle.

I've been playing my current SW:Rebellion game for a long time, on and off. Today, one of my main Shipyards was attacked, Bilbringi - it's defenders were made up of only units being prepared for a much larger fleet, and retreating isn't an option as the Empire has an Interdictor.

So here's what came to play

Empire: 4 ISD mk IIs, 1 Interdictor, 1 Nebulon-B, 2 Bulk Transports, 6 TIE Fighters and 12 TIE Defenders

Versus:

Rebellion: 2 CC-9600, 2 Victory Mk II SD, 18 Corellian Corvettes, 2 B-Wings and 23 X-Wings

Ok, so the Rebs have the clear numerical victory, as well as fighter superiority by numbers - only just. The Empire, on the other hand, has the firepower. 4 ISD Mk II's, where a joint effort by them destroys or seriously damages a Corvette.

So, who was the victor in this little escapade?

 From the looks of things you've done some modifications, but I'll assume you've left the basic ship statistics alone. The Rebel fighters are rather effective, so I would have to say that the 23 X-Wings might off-set any adbantage the Empire has in firepower. It is a rather even show. I have to favour the Rebels in this instance.

 The Corellian Corbettes are almost useless against the ISD IIs since they are only armed with laser cannons. They would, however, pose a great threat to the TIE Fighters and TIE Defenders. In tandom with the 23 squadrons of X-Wings, that pretty much cancels out the Imperial fighters. The Nebulon-B would be easy prey for the CC-9600s since they have double the hull strenght, and have triple the firepower on their port and starboard sides. If the VSDs worked with the CC-9600s, this would leave only the ISD IIs, since Bulk Transports have no weapons.

 So, that said, the Imperials still have a great advantage in firepower. A single ISD II has nearly double the firepower and hull strenght than a VSD II, with only a slight advantage in shielding. The CC-9600s have equal fire power to the ISD IIs on their port and starboard sides, though they are greatly lacking in their forward quarters (not even half the firepower of the ISD IIs there).

 It now comes down to a matter of tactics. If you simply throw your ships at the Imperials, I'm afraid you don't stand a chance. However, if you send your Corellian Corvettes in a headlong charge at the ISDs, along with your fighrers, have your CC-9600's keep the ISDs to their sides in a constant shifting of position, keeping the ISD's forward sections either out of range, or in a useless fireing arch, you should be able to widdle away at them. You would also need to place your VSDs at the rear of the ISDs, the only section in which they out-gun them. It is quite possible that the computer, not being much of a tactician, would focus on your Corvettes, leaving you to pummel them into a slow death, if not, you have to keep a close eye on your ships and their positions.

 So, what was the eventual outcome? (Please excuse the arrows, but I find that it is rather difficult to read when it is a single block of text)

The only changes that I've made is cost, and allowing the Rebels to use VSDs.

I'll post the results in a few days

the rebels can use vsdIIs????? 8O

No. I used RebEd to allow me to build them.

I started doing this after playing the Homeworld 2 mod, Warlods - where you can take over Imperial ships. Which made me envious

RebEd is a program that allows you to change things in the game, like ship prices, their firepower, speed etc.

You can download off this sight, this page to be exact.

Just try to make things fair for both sides so it's still fun

Ok, the results of that battle.

I sent all fighters and Corvettes to engage them Imperial fighters, which began to work to my advantage. Though it didn't take long for the ISD mk IIs to turn their firepower onto the small Corvettes and I was forced to recall them and hope my fighters would be free soon.

Well the ISDs got in firing range of my main warships and began firing on them. So I obviously ordered all ships to return fire.

The battle was pretty quick with my ships concentrating fire on a single ship at a time. Fortunately the other Imps were dealing with my fighters so it was only the 4 to worry about.

After taking damage to several of my ships, I had disabled 2 ISDs, causing the Imperials to retreat. So I got all my units to attack the Imperial capital ships while hey retreated and knocked out the remaining two ISDs and slightly damaged the Neb-b.

Loses:

Empire: 11 Defenders, 4 TIE Fighters, 4 ISD mk IIs

Reb: 2 B-Wings, 5 X-Wings, 1 Corvette

Damaged: My VSDs were badly damaged – one only has around 100 hitpoints left, the other lost all functionality though had around 50% hull. The same happened to one of my CC-9600s though it still had engines and the other only lost 50% of its shields. 8 Corvettes were badly damaged and will probably be scrapped, another two were mildly damaged.

I was surprised by the result, and I think the only reason I got off so lightly was due to the Imperial retreat

Yeah, I was lucky. And damn lucky I didn't have a CC-7700 in my fleet or the Imps wouldn't have retreated and I'm 90% sure I would have been wiped out or forced to take out their Interdictor first.
