Just some questions about this site.

Every 5 or 6 months I pull out my copy of Rebellion and have some fun playing it hardcore for about a week.This time I am about 4 days into my Rebellion stint and I decided to check the net for some detailed info on units and such so I could improve my game play. Imagine how surprised I was when I found this site (it was the first one I checked) and realized people are still playing the game.

 

Hmm... oh yea I wanted to ask a question =D

 

Is this site dedicated to Rebellion or what exactly? From what I have read I gather there are mods for the game and thats one reason its still played. But can someone explain to me a general history of what this site is about? Im not looking for something in depth. Just some general info so I can get caught up on whats going on.

 

PS.Reading some of the posts on this forum makes me feel old since I got the game when it first came out. I even have the poster that came with it (tho it has some tears since I had it rolled up).

Gosh! I remember discovering this site the first time round after I was hopelessly hooked to the game. It was the first I put on my PC and has endured longer than any other. Guess I must like it then!

 

Needless to say, would not have been so without all the stuff that's available around here.

I never really got hooked on the game. Not because its not fun tho =) I was just hooked on SC/BW (StarCraft) and that addiction had me for almost 6 years.But just my luck this site will be abandoned in a week and I won't have anyone to talk to about how I got owned by the rebels!!

I would just hate to really get hooked on Rebellion and then have this small community go away. I remember about 3 or 4 years ago I decided to play Mechwarriors 2: Mercs online for the first time. So I went around the servers looking to see if anyone was still even playing the game. I found that it was still very popular and there was a system of clans. They faught against each other in match's and such and it was all fun. 3 weeks after I got into the community it all crashed down around me.... some company had the nerve to make a mechwarriors 3 and the mech2 community went away in 3 days.

 

So I hope you can understand how I can be a little worried about getting hooked on another old game =)

Lucasarts are going to have to come up with something extremely similar for me at least to loose interest in Rebellion! That said, when it's sequel of sorts does evenyually appear, our collective interest and talents will probably roll into what this monstrous beast will be!

 

You can't really think of to many games that enable you to dictate orders to a fleet of ten Star Destroyers with specific profile...

yes, its very very addictive. every once and a while i get to that point where i keep playing and playing, and everything else seems to fade away. i think i have a problem. are there any support groups or specially designed 28 day rebellion detox centers or 12 step rebeliholic programs????
