Well, even though it is an open-source browser, and not really any more secure than IE, I use FireFox. The pop-up blocker is better than anything I can download.

I use Firefox as well, BTW v. 1.0 pre-release can be downloaded now.

Opera is missing from that poll, I'll add it. EDIT: Couldn't add the option unless I had to make the poll again and thus lose all the votes already there.

So if anyone uses Opera or anyother browser just specify in your post.

Hmm, didn't know the new version of Firefox was out. Did it add more security features, or is just an aesthetic upgrade?

Firefox[/url]"]What's New

Here's what's new in this release of Firefox:

* Live Bookmarks

You can now subscribe to and read RSS feeds in your Bookmarks. When you visit a page that advertises a RSS feed by using a tag, a icon will appear in the status bar. Click it to view a list of feeds the page is offering. Click one to subscribe - this adds a Bookmark Folder that contains all the recent posts from the feed.

* Improved Find

Find is easier and more powerful now with our new Find toolbar. The Find toolbar (which shows at the bottom of the browser window) automatically highlights text in the page as you type and has a useful highlight feature.

* Managing Annoyances and Protecting Security

You can now open blocked popups, and the Extension install system now blocks all attempts to install software from sites other than update.mozilla.org. Users can add other sites to a list that allows them to offer software, but software is never automatically installed. In addition to these steps, several other measures have been taken to prevent phishing attacks and to highlight when a page is being viewed over a secure connection.

* Better Bookmarks

Numerous improvements to bookmarks including more reliable presentation of Site icons, and a split pane view in the Bookmarks window.

* Strong Encryption For Passwords Available

Passwords saved with the Password Manager can now be more easily encrypted with strong encryption by creating a "Master Password". If you create a Master Password, you are prompted once per session to enter the Master Password so that Password Manager can automatically fill in site logins. A useful feature for people who share computers with others and want improved security.

* Improved Compatibility for IE users

Undetectable document.all support for site compatibility and improved compatibility for keyboard accelerators further smooth the transition for IE users

* Better System Integration for GNOME users

You can now configure Firefox as your Default Browser on GNOME, and Firefox will adhere to your GNOME settings for edit field key bindings, etc.

* And a horde of other bug fixes...

Be warned, though. If you have any installed Extensions, it's probable that they won't work with v.1.0 PR yet; the official v.1.0 will be out in Nov. Supposedly.

Well, this year I started using Firefox for online stuff, while I kept IE for offline browsing. But after installing SP2 for XP Firefox might see even more action, since this darn new pop-up blocker even prevents the offline version of the CUSWE from working properly. It's just not practicable, if you have to deactivate this thingy everytime you launch something like the CUSWE database offline. :?

It seams there are not many Netscape fans around here.

As i said before i think it was too bulky and not practical anought.

I find that it is easier to use than IE, and it is less pickey when it comes to a pop-up blocker. The only thing i don't like about it is that the left-click "save as" feature doesn't always work as well as IEs. I still use IE for some of my downloading.

I have just switched from IE to Firefox. Ive kept IE just for updating XP and Office seeing MS havent supported any other browsers ( 8O ).

I find firefox very easy and much like IE to use and navigate and i like the tabbed windows option, something im using more and more everyday.

Tell me, how's Firefox?

I will put very simply. The interface is such that you won't be lost if you are switching from IE and the Tab option is great the only thing i find a bit boring is the Download manager but its easy to bet around.

Tabs mean that you don't need to have several dozens of IE windows open if you want to visit dozens of different pages at the same time, instead Firefox opens each page in its different tab, all in one single window. It help keep your task bar clean.

Download Manager is weak, but as Firefox is customizable you can go on their page and download some "extensions" which help you "personalize" your Firefox, there are some download manager alterantives among the extensions.

There aren't any conflicts, but if you want to do a Windows Update, or pretty much any sort of Live Update that uses an internet browser, you'll need to use IE since Firefox tends not to load those pages.

MyIE2, which I belive is an older version of firefox. Ill upgrade when the next non-beta release is available.

The tab function is great, as you said Trejiuvanat it helps keep your taskbar clean and I find it great when doing a search.

I go to google and do my search and then i select the result and open it in a new tab which allows me to keep scrolling through the list of results while the other page is still loading, Or i can open multiple tabs to cheack out a few different pages.

I also think firefox is quicker then IE when it comes to loading the pages and the downloads ive noticed is also quicker but that could be just a coincidense (sp?).
