    • You must be kidding right?

    • Sounds cool, Lucas would never think of it though.

Maybe a gypsy wookie made that prophecy! Just kidding...

I dont get that prophecy though. There never is 'balance' unless they mean equal numbers in which case its achieved in Ep VI when there's yoda, luke, vader and sidious. this is only for a VERY short time tho!

We don't actually know what they meant by balance, so for all we know the Force jsut needed a little extra fiber in its diet  .

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

IF you count guys like C'Baoth, Solusar, and the Emperor's Hands, then its not so clear that there was even a numerical balance, though this wouldn't seem to be what they mean by balance. How could Anakin becoming one more of a few thousand Jedi balance out what was supposed to be only 2 Sith? In this sense, he and Palpatine do get close to bringing the Force to balance numerically by killing (according to the films only) all but two of the Jedi. It would seem more likely that the prophecy would be bringing the power of light and dark into balance, rather than sheer numbers. As they reveal in Episode II, the Sith were affecting the Jedi's ability to read the Force..ie the scales were tipped toward the Dark Side...the Jedi (or at least Qui Gon) saw Anakin as the equalizer to that...in ROTJ, however, according to Lucas, Luke eliminates evil entirely, tipping the balance to the Light.

Then there is also the possibility that Lucas didn't really know what the hell he was doing because he was rusty after not writing for 20 years when he did Episode I, and that, like midi-chlorians, we'll never hear about the prophecy again.

  • 10 months later...

am only new so sorry if my contribution comes up late. could be someone thought of this already somewhere else, sorry if thats the case, wasn't plagiarizing or anything

HERE'S THE BALANCE THING MAKING SENSE, SORT OF

could be that light-siders aren't really powerful because their powers are only for knowledge and defence while dark-siders use it for attack and changing stuff for their benifits. its more like what their potentials are. dark-jedi changes things while light just lets it be. siths have more potential. kind of like jedi having one maintenance point because all they can do is heal and fight(not much there), while siths use up 500 points because they can and WILL(thats the important distinction!) do all sorts of cool stuff. so 1000+ jedi is still equal to 2+ dark ones. so whenever the balance of power shifts, the force acts to rebalance it so they will be once again more or less equal. it was foreseen by the force that the emperor will exterminate jedi so the balance was tipped to the dark ones favor. the force just used anakin to deal with the emperor. if it weren't for anakin having children then becoming darth vader to get close to the emperor then having luke bring him back to the light then finally dumping the emperor to the core killing him, then palpatine's reign would have been absolute. no one can even come close to the guy. the force just arranged a series of events to take place. someone will bring balance to the force, it just happened to be anakin. i mean without anakin, sidious would have never shown himself that early,he would have bidded his time until he was too strong for the jedi to counter. he would have exterminated the lot in secrecy with him right in the middle of their noses!!!

PS it could explain away the fact that why is there always jedis and siths in the books even though all of them have been exterminated in previous books someone new always come in, the force doesnt allow one to be absolute over the other. the force would always keep some of them safe from each other.

PS2 the sith could have learned this truth themselves, thats why they always have only 2 at a time, a master and an apprentice. more would bring the jedi crashing through their doors through the manipulations of the force!!! balance always!

PS3 the jedi could have learned this as well, thats why no jedi can marry, that would have swollen their ranks immensely. balance destroyed, catastrophe imminent!!

PS4 luke's jedi academy always manages to make a dark-jedi or two. whenever light manages to become too strong here comes something to whittle thier numbers away. the vhong, etc. doesnt always have to be dark-jedi you know! lol

PS5 and before you say how about luke and leia becoming the last jedi, wheres the balance there? you have to remember that luke has some leanings towards the dark side: anger, impatience, all the things yoda tells him. anyway, there have been some force sensitives cropping up now and then, some of them are leaning towards the dark-side right? theres your balance again.

hehehe just a thought! lol
