Chat and Gaming lobby

I was wondering, Since the Zone's Rebellion room has shut down, Rebellion players have no place to gather and chat. How much work would it be for this site's staff to create a chat lobby?? Some place where players who are online can hang out and wait for others who want a game.

The new lobby wouldnt have to be like the zone, with game rooms and message options. All we need is a place to meet up with others who want a game and exchange IPs.

So staff, if that is at all possible plz say you can do it. Thanks in advance :)

That's what the IRC channel is for...http://irc://irc.swcic.net/swrebellion You may need an IRC client for it.
Which is currently under construction... It seems they're looking for a new webmaster...

The thing is since the community of Rebellion players is so small , we need to agree on one server so people can get a game. People say use IRC or MSN or Kali and I said Gamespy....

Out of all these Gamespy is the best one, IMO. They are a GAME server and are setup for searching thier entire online community for anyone who has the game when you log on. They have private and public chat, friends lists and game lobby already setup.

People just have to get to know about it for it to become popular. Look... right now its Saturday evening, the SWRebellion.com home page says that around 30 people are browsing this rebellion site. I am sure at least half of them would want a game.

So lets make Game Spy our new online gaming center and have this site's administrator send out an e-mail to the 3000+ members to let them know about it. We could probably revive the game for some time.

What an organisation. I would join in happily the group, but I have always had a few problems with online games on rebellion. I don’t know why, my firewall must hate this game because it is damn hard to get my IP address trough. It just says there aren’t any connection. If any one can give me a hint, because Mad and I have tried everything we know.

Let's see, I configured my firewall on the laptop this way and I could connect to the pc and vice-versa. So I'm pretty sure it'd work on the internet as well.

dplaysvr.exe is allowed in- and outbound connections, on any remote port and on local port 47624 .Protocol is UDP.

rebexe.exe is also allowed in- and outbound connections on any port, any adress with TCP and UDP ports.

That's all you should have to set in your firewalls or routers to make it work. Btw, if you have any firewall rules forbidding inbound tcp and udp connections, like I have to avoid most worms and port-scanners, make sure the rules for the Rebellion stuff is set prior to that one.

Otherwise the inbound blocking will exclude the Rebellion connections, at least it's that way with my firewall :wink:
