Who wants a Star Wars Strategy Game?

Well, I love Lord of the Rings, and this is not just because its an awesome trilogy and book, but also because you can play the models! The LotR strategy game (with models, dice etc) is awesome. Its fun painting and building terrain, but I love battling even more.

 

I want them to make something similar for Star Wars! It would be wicked to have a little Clone Army led by some heroic jedi! If anyone else has this burning desire, join me in my campaign to do so! I would love to send a request with hundreds of names to Citadel models, that would hopefully convince them! If you're unsure about what these games involve, go here:

I am not ususalyy very keen on playing these games but i can't resist the idea of having a minuture clone war in my bedroom. Where do I sign?

 

BTW I guess if they do take something like that out it would surely costr a fortune.

No way!! You know warhammer and 40K? they cost like $5 AUS per basic guy, even if they suck! then lord of the rings released theirs, and they were abotu $1 per guy!! the sw ones could easily be made that cheaply. I am going to write to citadel soon, and then to lucasarts.

That would be cool, I collect some mintures too - though mine are from battletech (What the mechwarrior games are based on).

 

Ah, I could see it now - a legion of Storm Troopers battling entrenched Rebels. Hopefully, if they're convinced to make them, they'll make EU units as well - both pre and post movies. I'd love some New Republic troopers, like in the pic bellow:

What I'm thinking would be the coolest part about them would be wicked-huge vehicles! Imagine ATT's, AT-AT's etc! They could make models for small skirmishes, but also make something like that miniature warhammer game where you have a lot smaller models, and its all about squads and vehicles. That way you could have all of the bigger stuff and have huge sprawling armies!

They also have Mordheim, a game all about small squads of troops doing things, but the coolest part about that is experience. They gain experience, search for better weapons and earn money doing jobs. That would make ACE SW material! Imagine you as a jedi, learning new powers, and fighting all sorts of creatures! I'm gonna start making rules for something like that soon, using Mordheim as an inspiration! Any ideas would be appreciated, and please express any interests here!

I also rememered there is a game thats all about space fleets. An SW version of that would be cool, huge ship, fighters squads, cruisers etc!

As Thrawn has said, try to keep posts in one, if you forget to add something just edit your original post. As to the topic, there is a strategy game for Star Wars. It is called Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. It is based on the Age of Empires 2 engine, which is a great but older engine.

 

At the moment, it is the only one availible, so you might want to give it a shot. I do not have a link for it, but just go to Google and search it for information if you are interested.

Though, Barkoa is actually talking of board games - not computer games. Where you buy minitures, paint them and play against other human opponents on map, in a turn based environment - it's actually fun if you get into it.

Are they really NR troopers? The look more like Imperial stormtroopers without helmet (so they can actually shoot something faster than sandcrawlers).

Sorry about the editing, I'm not too familiar with Forums. I will do that in the future. Admiral Anitlles, what I mean by strategy game is one with actual physical models. Not a computer game like battlegrounds is. If you're not sure what I mean by this go to the link on one of my earlier posts . These games involve assembling, painting and fighting with the models over terrain. you use dice and each type of unit has stats about how good they are etc. That's what I mean by a strategy game!

I wouldn't mind making small models of Starships to create fleets. But I don't know how.

Yeah, I would like models of star warships - though not really large ones, miniture size would be good.

 

I use to try and make my own models, I made two space ships (not Star Wars) out of extra parts from plastic models as well as an MC-80, liberty style, from tin foil I'll have to try and find it and get a pic.

One of the best ways of doing this sort of thing is to do what they did for teh Death Star, and that was, just buy a lot of different model sets and put bits together here and there. I find battleships and jets give some reasonable results. I am petitioning for them to make some of this sort of stuff properly, and with reasonable quality. Its generally hard to do stuff on your own. Making the scenery isn't too hard for these sort of games either!

These days, I stick to using 3D modelling programs - easier in some respects and you can simply copy them if you want more

Sorry. Its how you call expanded polystyrene over here. And I think I am going to have a look on how to make starships on the net.

 

EDIT: I didn't find anything. I any one knows how to make models of ISDs and MCs about 5 centimeters long or a link please tell me.

I know what youre talking about now! That stuff's cool. I use it to make scenery for my LotR models! It makes really good rocks

Cutting is sometimes a bit hard but if you take a knife and heat it using the kitchen gas you can cut through the material like butter.
