ElvisMiggell Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Cool, what do you know about the name lengths for planets though? They seem to be limited to the number of characters that the original name has. i.e Yavin =max 5charsCoruscant = max 9charsHow can i change this? Elvismiggell. ElvisMiggell Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 Any ideas about the planet name thing? Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
TK421 Posted December 6, 2002 Posted December 6, 2002 No Z'anthr saves the world. Sorry about the mess...
ElvisMiggell Posted December 6, 2002 Posted December 6, 2002 This might prove to be a problem. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Tsunami Posted December 26, 2002 Posted December 26, 2002 No problem. It's in the dlls (think it was textstra.dll, around 759), easy to find/edit. Just switched Sumitra and Corscant sectors and renamed some planets. Now the rebels start on Coruscant and the Empire on Wayland. No idea though how to change the starting conditions (energy and resources on Yavin, buildings). RebEd can change Coruscant and Rebel HQ, but not Yavin. It's all hopeless but otherwise not very dramatic. - Helme Haffax Englishman: "What do you think of Modern Civilization?"Mahatma Gandhi: "That would be a good idea."
ElvisMiggell Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 So ResHack could change the name to a longer name, though you can't with RebEd. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away

ElvisMiggell Posted December 31, 2002 Posted December 31, 2002 The Scorpion King made a mistake! Ooops! Unfortunately the answer is, i don't think you can because as i understand it the destination has to be a .X file or something. Not much use i know, but i try. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Tsunami Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 Sure it can be done. (Well, it *should* work.)Simply extract the resources and re-import them. Say you want to switch models for the Carrack and ISD: Extract the resource for the Carrack (using binary format and .x) and the ISD, the replace the Carrack resource with the ISD and vice versa. It's all hopeless but otherwise not very dramatic. - Helme Haffax Englishman: "What do you think of Modern Civilization?"Mahatma Gandhi: "That would be a good idea."

Tsunami Posted January 6, 2003 Posted January 6, 2003 I am really bad at making tutorials...First, get theeself Mask's tutorial about model exchange. Everything should get clearer then. The only difference for you is that you replace models with ones you have to extract yourself. Somewhere in the main screen you will find the way to exctract resources. Select the resource (the model) you want to extract and save it as a binary file with the extension .x. The 'extract as binary' does not show up on right click. (My problem is that I do not recall the screen configuration exactly, but with my little hints and Mask's tutorial you should be able to do it.) It's all hopeless but otherwise not very dramatic. - Helme Haffax Englishman: "What do you think of Modern Civilization?"Mahatma Gandhi: "That would be a good idea."

Tsunami Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Yes. The 'save as binary file' can be found under 'actions'.IMO you only need to save the most detailed model and replace the two with lesser detail with it. If you are not exactly sitting on a 486/100, your comp should be able to handle it. Would be 6 .x files, not .bin. We really have to use this technique for the TC to get everyone the right starting ships. If no one finds the starting conditions somewhere in GData, that is. It's all hopeless but otherwise not very dramatic. - Helme Haffax Englishman: "What do you think of Modern Civilization?"Mahatma Gandhi: "That would be a good idea."
the_mask Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 I found something like this, along others in the savegames, but this is still veeery early beta. I need to tinker around with the planets some more, cause your fleets have to be somewhere. But as I heard today I'm three weeks away from half of my 12 coming exams at the end of the semester, so I hope you'll understand that I better start learning to get an over-payed job someday http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Tsunami Posted January 7, 2003 Posted January 7, 2003 Zwölf Klausuren?!? In welchen Bundesland hast du denn so viele Kurse gewählt? 10 GKs? Whui. (Sorry for the slip of tongue, but this just overwhelmed me.) Hey Mask, get this overpaid job fast. When you earned, let's say €12,95, you could buy the rights for Rebellion from LucasArts (don't say this price is ridiculous, I know it's way too high, but this game was a burner) including the source code and developing tool (wait, they made this up in QBasic, didn't they?) and we can stop fiddling with the code. Tsunami Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Just like what I said... Let's take our Mon Cal Cruiser which is starts at 2010 (this is the most detailed model, for the view up close). 2011 is a little bit further away and less detailed. 2012 is the one for the view from a galaxy far, far away. About these GData files: Why not simply ask Coolhand or LucasArts? I know how they usually react to some requests, but this is simply about code. It's all hopeless but otherwise not very dramatic. - Helme Haffax Englishman: "What do you think of Modern Civilization?"Mahatma Gandhi: "That would be a good idea."
the_mask Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 So there are people with my mother language in this forum But to answer your question: Im Schwabenländle, da sind noch 4 vom letzten Semester dabei http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Jahled Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Oh yes! I like cheese and tomato sandwiches as well, especially with granery bread and a slice of cucumber! Yum yum! http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
the_mask Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Hmm now I start to wonder about "Costa Rica" Let's just say somewhere in the area between Stuttgart and Nürnberg, in a region a radio station once used to call 'the wild south' Jahled, I've never eaten black-bread, like here. There is a saying, that a swabian will be homesick, after a few days without it http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Trejiuvanat Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Nah, there's nothing to wonder about Costa Rica. It's a small third-world country in Central America, that produces lots of good coffee and attracts lots and ltos of tourists. Other thatn having no military, there are few interesting things about it. I was born here, still I lved some years in GErmany, near the Schwabenland, so I know what Schnitzel tastes like and Spätzle. I go to the GErman school here so I don't lose the language I learned and I will be doing the Abitur next year. http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Jahled Posted January 8, 2003 Posted January 8, 2003 Sorry guys, I thought you were talking about your lunch. http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
