ElvisMiggell Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 This is linked to my post in the ship names thread in the general forum. So i'm playing as the Rebels, and i have three slightly souped up Mon Cals sitting over Talus. When i say souped up i mean slightly strronger shielding, and a few more fighter bays, 6 i think, though they were all empty. And then this little fleet showed up asking for a fight... All unclassified ships were ISD II's. As i'm sure you can imagine, i was a little overawed. That's 80 ships there. 80!!! 79 of which are ISD II's!!! So i thought i'll just go out in a blaze of glory, i can afford to lose three ships in a sector i'm not looking to control at the moment. So i go into tactical. Target one ship, the Extinguisher as i happens. Press to un-pause. And guess what happens.... ...................................... They turn around and run away. I managed to tractor the Extiguisher so i got that one. 80 vs 3, and 79 run away. I couldn't believe it. Moral of the story... never, ever, set ISD costs to 5/5. The Empire is not entirely stupid. ElvisMiggell Posted May 29, 2004 Author Posted May 29, 2004 Same game, it just happened again over Corfai...! Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Stellar_Magic Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 I guess the AI looks at relative vessel costs when it decides to run away or not. ElvisMiggell Posted May 29, 2004 Author Posted May 29, 2004 Possibly... but guess what i did in reply? I built a fleet of 300 Bulwark Battle Cruisers. AI came after me with a measly 160 ISD II's. I win. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
Cain Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 The RDB II R & D has found that the AI reacts to your strategy....for example if you have no ships the AI will stop building ships ....we used the traitor program to spy the AI and test him - The Trivium Organization - Community Manager -- Petroglyph Fan Forums - CoAdmin & Human Resources Manager -
ADarkJedi44 Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Well if the AI has 80 ships and it runs, I guess it is entirly stupid... Sweat saves blood-Erwin Rommel
Jahled Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Umm...gentlemen...these could be defined as slightly extreme uses of the RebEd engine! Whilst it's fun to have massive Endor-scale epic battles, errr.. such editing described reduces the 'cold-swett' of the game factor? Many years ago; before I discoved this site, I had a crap download that did stupid things like give the Empire's ships values of 1/1. I yawned very quickly! Whether Empire or Alliance the game engine is almost immediately shagged for common sense. I'm personally obviously no-newbee to the game; but the only setting I consider a challenge is Empire on expert mode... It's seriously hard! But it's also seriously fun until day 700-800 or so when you've struggled to turn things around! I use the RebEd engine as subtly as possibly! http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
ElvisMiggell Posted May 30, 2004 Author Posted May 30, 2004 So di Jahled, but i was just fiddling around and testing some ideas. Elvismiggell. Strike me down and i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la Not gone, merely marching far away
KiDmustanG728 Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 Wow 80 ships, most I've seen from the other side is in the 40s and I lowered their costs too.
Stellar_Magic Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 40s. I played a game where the AI put every ship it had over coruscant and I attacked it...oops. 273 - 89 (Empire - Rebellion) That game was just plain weird. ADarkJedi44 Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 Ack I bet that didn't turn out too well... Sweat saves blood-Erwin Rommel
KiDmustanG728 Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Hmph. I think I'm going to experiment some more with ship costs then.
