Is it possable to destroy the death star without fighters? just useing alot of really powerfull warships? cuse when you go into rebed you see that the death star does have a hull strenth value and shields to and can it use the turbolassers that it has also?

when I used the death star I didn't see it shoot anything but the big laser

And increasing the lasers for anti-starfighter defence has no effect either, i checked. :D

I'd really like to kill the DS through sabotage; that's the only cutscene I haven't seen so far. Heck, I'd even let the Rebels blow up my Death Star to see that cinematic, but they just don't attempt to do it (maybe that's because by the time I build the DS all the minor characters are DEAD and the others captured...)

Ah yes, the SSD. Recently I fought a battle where both sides had so many ships that I was able to fire off 2 laser shots from my DS before the 2 fleets began to engage each other.

How big were the fleets? And how cheap had you made your ships?!

Hah well what I had done was severely cut the Rebel ship costs in the idea that they could present a challenge. And they would've actually presented a challenge had they built gravity well ships to prevent me from retreating. But they didn't so I was able to pick my battles = (

But in this particular battle, I had around 45 ISD II's, 3 SSD's,a DS and a few smaller craft like lancers and escort carriers. They had about 38 Dauntless' half that MC's, and a number of escort carriers and blockade runners. I'm not actually a fan of big fleets but in this case I had no choice. I had to eliminate this fleet of theres so I combined 3 of mine, hence the 3 SSD's; a command ship for each fleet.

If you guys are looking for a challenge, this is the way to do it. Just cut the other side's ships costs to extreme low levels. In this game, the rebels had close to 600 Dauntless's patrolling around. At my prime, I had about 66 ISD II's.

I also used one of Cain's Admirals Nightmare scenarios. The ones where the entire galaxy starts off Rebel.

Well they didn't use CC-7700's so I was able to escape and choose my own fights. And haha also, they didnt have 600 ship fleets. Those ships were spread all around the galaxy. I wish they had included bulwarks though, and the gravity ships. Would've made winning A LOT harder.

Geez they could have just split them up into groups of 5 with a few supports vessels and fighters then blockade every important world, sabotaging/bombarding it to dust

It's almost impossible to lose a game. If you play as the Empire, the Rebellion never attacks Coruscant. I once started a game on hard and gave up all my planets except for Coruscant. It still took them 200 days or so to come to it and win.
