I must say I love the b-wing as well because I think it is a terribly polyvalent ship but I still think it is still a bit slow to take on the ties. But with the amount of torps it carries a squadron of b-wings could beat any capital ship which isn't bigger than a ISD.

polyvalent= having equal capacities in many things.

I mean that you can us it for shoting fighters AND attacking capital ships.

(check the dictionnary)

B-Wing is a pure capship killer. Sure, a flight of them fires all they got in a cloud of TIEs and many of them will die, but that Bomber just lacks the maneuverability for a dogfight.

Against ties I guess but I think they would be capable to beat less maneouverable fighter.

But still I will forever be in love with the Jedi starfighter.

The Jedi Starfighter could be really good... if it got rid of that stupid hyperspacec collar.

The point is that the designer sacrificed hyperspace for speed. But I saw on starwars.com that Anakin modified his to have hyperspace.

Um.... no it doesn't. Not really. The engine intakes are vaguely similar.

That's cos it's a bonus ship, like in RS I with the Naboo fighter.

As if a Naboo fighter is gonna be better than an X-Wing?!?

Of the fighters mentioned above, I prefer TIE Interceptor the most.

The TIE Fighter's shape makes it extremely hard to hit from behind...

In the TIE Interceptor, only the A-Wings are a match.

No shields is simply a bonus; not only you get the best starfighter

in the X-Wing series (except for Defender obviously), it's also VERY

simple to use.

But the real reason I like TIE Interceptors, is that I simply

HATE ASSAULT GUNBOATS!!!! :x:x:x

Sorry for wasting your time and space...

Because their too slow and that stupid Ion cannon doesn't help it only costs energy that you don't even use, unless your eally have to disable something.

It's like that:

When I started playing TIE Fighter, I really liked the TIE

Fighter itself. It was so fun flying in the general direction

of a bunch of Y-Wings while keeping them on the left (to

avoid running into laser death), then turn immediately

after bypassing them, sitting right on their tail. X-Wings

were fun too, and A-Wings-when I got that Interceptor.

But then comes the first Gunboat mission. The mission

is - destroy a minefield in a craft barely capable of

avoiding the turrets without becoming very vulnerable.

Even TIE Bombers could do that.

TIEs in general are very hard to hit, except on the sides.

The point in the game was to beat shielded craft with

shieldless ones, using speed and agility for defense.

The Gunboat just seemed pointless. Mines are easier

in an Interceptor.

Disabling large warships requires you to survive

their proximity. So maybe if it's engaged with another

one, but otherwise, I can't do it.

Sorry for wasting your time and space...

I thought I read soemwhere that the TIE Interceptor was initially designed to have TEN lasers (1 on each wingtip, two on the cockpit, two on the end of each wing pylon). :? I'll have to look for the site I saw that on.

The X-Wing is the quintessential Star Wars starfighter. It seems everything else uses it as a basis for comparison.

From a strategic/tactical standpoint, I'd have to say the A-Wing is the best. Speed, wider range of fire, ECM gear...it's able to perform multiple roles in a fleet. Sure, it sucks against capital ships and is rather fragile, but it's still pretty sweet.

The best performing fighter is obviously the TIE Defender, and for that it will hold a special place in my heart.

However...

My favorite TIE is the TIE Hunter from Rogue Squadron III. Sure, it's non-canon, non-EU even...but it's really pretty cool. Only two lasers, but it fires at such a high rate that it makes up for lack of quantity. It has ion cannons, proton torps, shields (A-Wing equivalent strength), and closing S-Foils ( 8O ) for a speed boost. It handles like an A-Wing, is incredibly fast...it's the most fun I've had in a TIE since XWA.

But if I had to choose a canon Movie starfighter, then I'd have to say the X-Wing, hands down.

Five of the Greatest Lines in the Star Wars Trilogy ;)

-"As you wish..."

-"He's no good to me dead..."

-"What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me."

-"Put Captain Solo in the Cargo Hold"

-"AaaaaAAaaaaaa!!"

I actually managed to unblock the TIE Hunter in RS III. But I must say that it isn't very practical for getting medals since it fires so fast that it lowers your accuracy score. In that game I preffer the Jedi Starfighter. With that I can destroy a ISD with one shoot  (and I am not joking)
