The E-wing was introduced in the Dark Empire Comic series. It got numerous mentions in the books following that, but never had a lot told about it.

In all reality,I think the E-wing could take apart an X-wing. It was slightly more manueverable, and while it only had three laser cannons, they were turbo charged for more damage. They also carried a much larger payload of torpedoes, 12 if remember. But they werent built to replace the X-wing, they were built to replace the Y-wing as a heavy attack bomber.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

Does nobody remember the Ewing?

I do remember.

Terrible.... truly terrible.

And yeah, and Ewing coulda taken an Xwing any day. Depending on pilot of course!

The E-wing has turbocharged weapons but while thats good against most ships, its bad against skips. A void could suck up the turbo charged lasers just as easily and since there is fewer of them and they take more time to charge... Well you'd want to give them an XJ's laser cannons so you could actually get past the voids...STUTTTTTTERRR fire. Though an XJ model has more torpedo launchers. Maybe the XJ model was made to replace the E-wing as the Sapce Superiority Fighter. The XJ is still alot more useful against an enemy like the vong though

Except the Star Destroyer isn't a starfighter.

A star destroyer will be the first capital ship you think of.

Maybe even the first ship, but not the first fighter. :P

Well, I'm still waiting for you to enhance the poll (after I just told you how  ), so I can vote for the Defender.

Otherwise it's an X-Wing. In the games I just feel the most at home in this fighter. Also the quad bursts have helped me see through uncounted clouds of Ties

The only downside of it is the sluggishness compared to an Interceptor or anything above. That's why I'd usually say the Defender, in this thing you can fly circles around any other fighter.

I voted for TIE Interceptor, but it's the X-Wing as well. The TIE Defender IS very cool, but I don't like it because it's TOO good. It can take on every other fighter if it has a half decent pilot and the opponent isn't Luke or Wedge or Baron Fel.

I like the TIE Int for its exceptional speed and good firepower, and the X-Wing for being pretty well balanced.

Well an A-wing can give a defender a good run for its money, especially if its the mark II

My favorite fighter is the A-Wing. It is the most fun to fly what with all that extra speed to burn. Also concussion missles are best for attacking fighters. The X-Wing however is the most versitile since it can also be used effectively to assault the larger ships.

Chewbacca: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgh

C-3PO: He made a fair move. Screaming about it can't help you.

Han Solo: Let him have it. It's not wise to upset a Wookiee.

C-3PO: But sir, nobody worries about upsetting a droid.

Han Solo: That's 'cause droids don't pull people's arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that.

Chewbacca: Grrf.

C-3PO: I see your point, sir. I suggest a new strategy, R2: let the Wookiee win.

Although there is something to be said for the Scimitar assualt bomber. Who knows what would have happened if those had made it to mass production.

Also, the Chiss clawcraft is something to be feared. Just the look of those things is cool.

Then there was the Home built starfighter that Corran Horn flew in "I,Jedi." (i think that was the name of the book) That sucker could dance, In his words.

Of course, who can remember the K-wing Assault bomber? That had ot be one of the ugliest ships in SW that i have ever seen. Not to mention on of the most obscure. It got mentioned twice in the Black fleet crisis, and never again.

Sorry Mask but it appears that when I which to update the poll the debug mode of the site won't allow it. Sorry
Hmm, maybe you can try again in a day or so. So far it as always worked for me :(

I don't know if the Clutches were that different from the Phantom, or different fighters at all. The only difference I saw was the shorter wings on a XWA model. :?

yes the tri-fighter is pretty cool. I think the point with the phantom was that it was meant to be a 2 pilot craft that is why it is bigger and has astrange cockpit.
