Well...I wrote my own version of an Episode VII that included the EU and my theory, the result was pretty cool... and scary.

 

Here's how Lucas could get around the EU problem... Set Episode VII Thirty + years after Endor. You'd have to introduce the Solos and Skywalkers but it could be done.

 

Also my imagination of Episode VII is what created the Rapora. If you're lost read the SW vs ST Forum.

 

I think part fo the reason Lucas authorized the NJO was to cut down the EU Characters so it would be possible for him to play with it in any sequeal. Considering Lucas vetoed a plan to kill Luke off in the NJO it may mean he has some plans for the future
