If you want to know for certain look up the Ep III thread in General Discussion, in one of the two last pages is a pretty accurate (IMHO) synopsis of the events of Ep III. Whatever you do, don't spoil it for the other people around here.

Naboo didn't strike me as being an important world. Their technology didn't seem to propogate through the republic, they didn't have a large populace, they weren't a large manufacturer of goods, etc.

The only thing that made it significant was Palpatine and the fact that Luke's mother was once queen there.

Has it occurred to anyone that Padmé may well die at giving birth to the twins?

That might well happen, but I think Lucas likes to include more plot depth than something simple like that.
And, Soltaris, from whence do you own this strange intelligence? :?

I've gotta say, i'ma be royally annoyed with Lucas if Padme dies in childbirth, given that Leia remembers her mother...

By the way don't forget Palpatine is from Naboo
I believe Soltaris already made that point...

You just may have a point there...

Well, if you'd have played StarWars: Demolition on the PSX you would already know the answer to this thread.

In this game you fight vehicle deatchmatches on several planets, including Naboo. The fact, that this game is set just before ROTJ should prove (as much as it is possible in the EU), that the planet is still there. It isn't described that much in the game, except for mentioning 'a big battle' between the native Gungans and the Trade Federation.

So I guess Elvis' prediction of the backwater planet is accurate. Also given that Leia remembers her mother at least faintly supports, what is in the unofficial storyline, that Trej found.

I always kinda figured Padme hid on Alderaan with Leia for a while until she died and then Bail adopted her.
