Open...ish. They really weren't that open until after they took Coruscant, and even then, they weren't that open.

Well after Endor they began taking whole planet. Sure Warlords took plenty but there are still a few thousand ISDs left to destroy the Rebellion and the warlords!

That's a good point actually, economic decline probably didn't help the Imperials at all.

Try to mind the obscenity please.

But yes, your point is correct. They were fighting an internal conflict, and a guerilla foe with forces designed to cope with major engagements. A star destroyer is not a stealthy weapon!

They could have flung a 100 ISDs at the advancing Rebels a few months after Endor. The Rebel fleet probably wouldn't have been able to repel such a large force and I hope the Empire could have gotten a force of 100 ISDs together!

He's right about the local governors part except when it comes odwn to one thing. From the books you'd have to think that an enormous proportion of the Imperial Fleet fell under the command of the warlords. Most of the governors that had any ships either kept them or hurled them after pirates and other gangs.

Of course there is something else that bothers me, does anyone have an apporximent number of the forces that the rebels had. I heard they'd station enough ships over Mon Calamari to repel a small imperial armada. How many ships did they have just after endor?

Well they lost quite a lot. And in the film you get the impression they're throwing everything they've got at the DSII.

There were more Mon Cal than that. The Liberty and a wingless MC cruiser were blown up, So, with Ackbar still alive at the end of the battle it must have been at least three. Official numbers are around 6 I think. Still, ridiculous.

Perhaps just all they could spare, or all that could reach the Sullust rendevouz point in time.

They didn't know they ran into a trap, they probably expected, some five or six SDs, and the Home One and two or three of the smaller MonCal cruisers could have taken an SSD, but they didn't expect one to be there either. (Guess on strength of Home One based on assumption she was only slightly weaker than Mon Remonda). And they would have stayed clear of the firing range of the DS's Turbolasers, so that would not have been a problem.

My question is: Why did they bring in their transport ships (and there were several Gallofree Yards Medium Transports in the fleet) ???

Let me explain

the hole strike was actually 3 fleets brought together. And each fleet had transport ships for supplies when the fleets got together they brought these ships with them and there was absolutely no reason why they should leave them unprotected on Sullust when no Imperial fleet was expected to be protecting the DS
