The 'New Classic' is a compilation of arranged versions of the music form this epic series. The "Castlevania Battle" soundtracks are heavy metal versions that are not to be missed, either! Ahem. Jahled Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 "Bloody Tears" -Castlevania New Classic mp3 from here. Emmm...I want to be sure i'm not clicking on anything dubious or illegal... can you confirm by clicking on that url link I wont be prosecuted by the music industry? This fact I need to know for certain before I click on your link. I've also givin you a skillful, but thouroghly lawful, opportunity to expand your post count to the epic-scales of 245! SHUDDER NOT! Anyway, call me a sad git; but: UFO: Doctor Doctor!! The birth of the metal guitar riff...by a German... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Texas_Fett Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Not that I'm aware of. His site merely links to Fileplanet, which is the entity hosting the tracks. Sure, you'll need a Gamespy ID, but otherwise it appears kosher. Besides that, the soundtracks for all but the most recent games are out of print, so you're out of luck finding them anywhere else. He's also been up for more than three years, and would've been shut down LONG before now if he was doin' anything shady. But then again, that's my completely unprofessional, non-lawyer-y explanation. Evanders, if this is too much of a 'grey area', let me know and I'll delete the post. Jahled Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Emm... originally posted in jest...but; Loads of people have apparently been issued law-suits by the music industry for downloading stuff in Europe, I read in the paper today.... ...fair enough if they're profiting from stuff; but I gotta personal qualm about the dig into the profits of the music industry... who are by all acounts one of the most profit-margin*laugh loudly in private*smug bunch of greedy, head-ego sell-by-dates on the planet... beside thoughs who wear 'Hard Rock Cafe wherever tee-shirts.' Music artists, as I have said before, from personal experiance of knowing minor artists; Zero7, Smoke City; earn a fortune... I pity their toil not much... i'll make Mick Jagger a sandwich of his choice anytime, but only if he wears something appropriate for his age...especially in my own kitchen... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Texas_Fett Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Yeah, those RIAA lawsuits are happening over here, too, as you probably well know. They've even targetted 11-14 year olds. Now, while I can see their point and their legal shenanigans have made me uninstall Kazaa!, Napster, etc., I retain my collection of music. In fact, it's made me patronize more sites that DO offer their musical content for free...although I guess that wouldn't exactly make me a 'patron', now would it? Still, I haven't bought a new music CD in about 2 years, mostly as a personal protest against the RIAA and the crapola they've attempted to pass off as music these days. Jahled Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Call me somekind of 'has been,' but i've only ever tried to download music that I can't get on CD; namely the rare, exclusive stuff, not yet re-released on CD. Personally, if I like a recording, i'd want all the packaging that goes with it, just like the old days with vinal. Anyway, my attempts to download mp3 files have failed... my PC groans when I switch it on these days... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
Trejiuvanat Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 I don't I've ever bought a Music CD, all the ones I own were gifts. Most of my music comes from the Net. Targetting 14 year olds? Someone's got a bolt lose in the U.S., I know people that have about 4000 MP3 at home and most likely won't be prosecuted... As a funny fact for you: Blockbuster closed on Costa Rica, because they simply couldn't compete with other rentals that relied on piracy, nor with the street salers that sell copied PS Games at $1 each... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
Texas_Fett Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Well, I didn't say they were sane, only that they were issuing lawsuits. This 14 year old girl got off with a $3000 fine, and now is a spokesperson for Pepsi and their I-Tunes gig. Jahled: Yeah, it sucks trying to find music via a modem. I've done most of my searching from work, whereupon I burn it to a CD to take home. Trej: I've heard that they've been trying to bear down on that kind of piracy though. There was a big bust in China last week, I'd heard. Five of the Greatest Lines in the Star Wars Trilogy -"As you wish..."-"He's no good to me dead..."-"What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me."-"Put Captain Solo in the Cargo Hold"-"AaaaaAAaaaaaa!!" Fett's VetteThe Lyrics
Trejiuvanat Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 PErsonally, I don't think they'd ever control it. That girl was probably just a scare, and sure a big bust in China, but what about Thailand, Argentina, Brazil, Rusia... the world's too big for the lawsuits... http://www.swrebellion.com/~jahled/Trej/banner.gif
the_mask Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Nope, they probably won't. But they only think short-sighted, that's why the prices are/have been leaping so high. So they just shake their rusty saber a bit to calm their shareholders. Here's an example: last friday I was in the video rental and stumbled across a poster on their wall. It showed photos of people, their names and below you could read stuff like 'Wanted for piracy of blablabla'. Now what doesn't work here ? First, if they got the picture and the name, that would be just a phone call away from an arrest. Second, even if they already had sued these people, they still woulnd't have the right to show their pictures and real names just to mark them as bad guys. I walked away, mumbling something like "how stupid do they think their clients are ?", just loud enough to make sure the owner behind the counter could hear me. On the other hand, I don't like the idea of people selling their copies. That's just the same as the industry selling the originals at high prices: namely greed. But to get back to soundtracks and music in general: this Castlevania music sounds great. I remember the times I played 'Symphony of the night' fondly, for a big part because it had these cool background music during the fights. UFO is/was a German ? Didn't know that http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Texas_Fett Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I never played SotN, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. My favorite of the series will always remain Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest, mainly because it inspired some memorable music, but also because it allowed for the revisiting of certain areas. Anyone who has played any of the games in the series owes it to themselves to check out the above link. the_mask Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 I got both of the battle perfect selections by now and I like them a lot I also don't think theres's something wrong with the files, since they're on Fileplanet and those guys would've surely dumped them a long time ago then. And now a classic, that I wasn't even aware, I had. the_mask Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Interesting "Schenker" would be "Donator" in english, btw I didn't know, that he had been with the Scorpions. TF, it's the part, where he sings "despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage". I can't say which version is cooler at the moment, perhaps I gotta listen some more to them http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif

the_mask Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Me too, that's why I looked up the lyrics I had saved sometime ago from http://www.lyrics-world.de (click "suche" that means search), cause in some of his Polka lyrics they added the original song http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5183/animated9pn.gifhttp://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1778/reloadedbannerdu8.gifhttp://www.swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif
Texas_Fett Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Well, that's convenient. There have been several times where I just frowned during a Weird Al "Polka" when there was a reference to an obscure song. The "Rat in a cage" was one.
