Laser animation in tactical window

Featured Replies

Has anybody found which part of tactical.dll houses the laser animations? I'm guessing it's somewhere in the 303 folder, in the 3000 range. But all I find there is explosions, and ion effects on the hull. Not the shots themselves.

I want to see if these animations can be edited Im getting kind sick of these rather sad blips of laser fire. I want to light up the sky with green death, not just these single blips.

Look, said Arthur, "would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?"

I wanted to change that myself a while ago, but haven't found it in the tactical.dll's 303 folder :(

Damn I was hoping I just missed the animation :(.

It must be in there somewhere, everything else that involves the tactical window is.

I'm looking through the file again and I'm starting to think that the laser animation is just a point that gets repeated along the line of the laser trajectory. I'm gonna mess around with the animation file and see what happens. (I'm gonna put a few more dots in the animation file and see if I end up with multiple laser blasts)

If it works out Ill let you know.

My modeling is at a standstill at the moment anyway, I can't get a registration code for GMAX. Those guys just don't reply to that registration form. Maybe it's a hotmail prob.

The problem with designing something completley foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of a complete fool.

There is another way to multiple shots (not blasts):

I noticed that in the Warlords TC, all ships fire multiple shots in multiple directions. It has something to do with the rate of fire.

Certainly not what you hoped for, but another way to make fights less static.

It's all hopeless but otherwise not very dramatic. - Helme Haffax

If you're thinking about the red, green, yellow and blue dots in the tactical.dll, these are the fighters from veeeeery far :D That was also something I tried unsuccessfully.

The Gmax reg is still faulty ? Oh geez all that time they didn't change anything, look in the forum, when I registered (long ago) there was a thread or post about this problem and I think there was also a workaround for it with a kind of a universal key or something by discreet I think.

Search for GMAX on astalavista.box.sk ;)
Why are people afraid to die? It is a natural part of life. Life and Death. They go together. Some people are just willing to speed up that process.
