Cloaking device ?!?

Featured Replies

I'm posting this here since i don't know where else to post it

I was playing a skirmish

me versus 3 easy Ai

I was playing empire & they were rebellion

Near the end of the b atlle i noticed 1 of my laser turrets was under attack

the mini map showed no enemies so i went there

i saw the turret being under fire at first i taught the enemy was still behind the fog of war

so i deverted a Acclomator who was headed towards the rebel base to attack it

well the shots came out of nowhere

however the acclomator opened fire at what was a nebulon B frigate, invisible & untargetable unless by auto target when

a ship was nearby

the hardpoint & health bar did lit up when i moved the cursor over it

by the time i well figured this out the battle was over

anyone else encounterd this

I did. It seems to be a bug, because there IS no cloaking device. Its maybe a memory-problem or sometimes the game didn't realize that the FoW has been removed for this section of the map.
Did there happen to be a Nebula where the Nebulan was?

I see it in multiplayer games all the time.

Sometimes ships hyper in 'cloaked', they can't bee seen.  If you move the mose over it, you can see the hardpoints.

Just happens, yeah its a bug.

So its not in a Nebula? Ships become invisible in a Nebula.

its a glitch in the game dude, but im hpoing theyll add cloaking devices as a buyable upgrade.... you buy them and stick them on ships.. limit one per fleet... it would be pretty kool
your um... getting too technical... its the "concept" of the cloaking device were after... not the technicalities

Cloaks are not viable.  They block all sensors and reflect light so you'd be flying Blind

that is how star wars cloaking works it isn't technical that is how it works in the world of star wars. fool.

but handle the flying blind like in warlords. the cloaked ship's sensors are gone, but it's allies aren't. also the ship cannot fire untill it is uncloaked,so it is like a stealth attack. send it behind an enemy force and kill off the space station when they aren't looking.

i was commenting on what someone else said with the cloaked ship attackign while cloaked, i know very well that they cant, my point with the cloaking device is to position that ship in a strategic spot, wait for the right moment, and catch the enemy offguard.  and since when has everything in the starwars universe been right in the game.... ...we can sacrifice a technical concept of flying blind so we add a cool feature to the game
