I know how to mod sspace battle pop cap but what about land battles

The same way - just remove the pop cap of the respective units. (set it to 0)

yep ground really needs to be changed some maps u can only land 3 squads of troops :o and if the planet is heavily fortified it a big hassle.

Population_Value in the unit XMLs (groundvehicles, groundinfantry, etc.).
