Generic_Star_Destroyer is the base file upon which the code for Star_Destroyer is based.  It isn't a seperate unit.

I'm not entirely sure, but it looks like the "Victory_Destroyer_No_Fighters" is just the basic info for all VicStars, you know, just without fighters (as if that wasn't obvious enough  : ).  The other Victory entry only has a small amount of info (the fighter compliment), no build info, no speed, power, or health.  I guess it's kinda like the "Generic_Star_Destroyer" code.

Exactly. Although the Generic_Star_Destroyer and Victory_Destroyer_No_Fighters both have all the data required to build them. Likely they may have some use in the campaign storyline or something.

I think i found out how to give ships a new class name, you have to edit the MasterTextFile and add a line named TEXT_UNIT_????? and the name in the text portion. Then go into the correct spaceunits???.xml and change this line

TEXT_UNIT_STAR_DESTROYER

to

                TEXT_UNIT_?????

 

Then when you enter the game your ship will have the name you added there instead of the default one.
