maybe it will be like the boanty hunter vs the smugler, where you just put them in the special slot above the planet in galactic map, and the death star becomes destroyed.

since they said red squadron must survive the fleet battle to attempt the death star run id say its not gonna be that easy. would be rather imbalancing to have a drop and dead death star killer

Dont forget that the only one that can destroy the Death Star is luke with lucky shot. ;D

I was gonna say that actually. If the Hero units have Veteran Levels or upgrade (which they may not), then perhaps Luke (who will not come cheap by any standard) is the only one who can destroy it. But it's not just the lucky shot.

 

It is possible that the lucky shot may only half destroy the station. Maybe there's an attack point on the station (at half energy) which has to be destoyed, before Luke /and possible the Millenium Falcon can get inside the Death Star and destroy the core, and ultimately the station altogether. It's possible that it's the only way.

Um, that wont work.  This is the Death Star 1.  It will be destroyed in a cinematic I believe.  Basically, if you are the Empire and luke is in the system... Retreat, and if that is not an option, attack him with everything you have.  Ignore everything else.
