Isn't it like 3. The game is not even out yet, but mods are already being made? Let's think here. Does that imply aything about the game? If the game will be as good as we like to think it will be then why so many mods?

Mods dont mean that a game is bad at all. They are just people wanting to express their creativity and they love to modify things. It is quite fun to add your own personal touch to a game and to share it with others.

Almost all games, no matter the quality, have mods. All the WC games, SC, HL 1 and 2, Kotor, the list goes on...

granted, but why don't we wait to see how the game turns out first?

Let me help let down the reason why

 

To take advantage of the game engine

To take advantage of the easy modding

To add in things other players want to see in the game

Add in other series such as Halo, Gundam, or something to do with earth and space

To enhance the gameplay from best to perfect

 

Look at Battlefield 1942, it was good but people wanted more so they added in more maps, teams, vehicles, weapons and ect to that game that its like having a game collection in one game.

 

edit: Also if there isn't an RTS game of that series people would want to make one so they would mod it into the game such as me who wants to make a Gundam RTS mod

Starting Early like LoW is doing is to ensure that we don't have to take the time later to make the models we need. Instead we'll have them and just need to do some slight modifications to them in order to get them to work.

 

Oh and becuase EaW isn't delivering all that I want it to have.

Even if the game turns out to stink (probably not), since all they are making now are plans and models, they can reuse their content to go and keep making the mod for a different game. So it's a win-win.

yeah i've downloaded mods for other games and it does make that game better and less boring as it means that i have more to worry about and less of a tactical advantage over the AI. so i agree with what they are doing with the mod's.

its shaped wrongly if its based on the description from Unifying Force and how they had the Invasion FLeet for Mon Calamari then that was in the shape of a Yammosk. but it looks great and will probably be one of the ones that i add to the game after i have had the chance to play it properly.
