First go to http://www.gamesurge.net/chat/

 

Then go to the chat lobby.

 

In the chat line type : /join #empireatwar

 

that puts you in the chat area

 

To change your name: In the lower right corner of the chat console is a typing area and says change nick to. type in the name you want and press enter.
