February 16, 200620 yr I'm just sort of wondering how people 'capture' bits of DVDs to use as gifs. Any of you guys know what software I need to use? It's my sincere wish to really go to town with Jabba the Hut and Lo Pan from Big Trouble in Little China before I die... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif

February 18, 200620 yr SWR Staff - Executive Well I guess it depends on what DVD program you have. I'm using PowerDVD and it has a simple button to generate save the screen to an image file. Very handy. Unfortunately it will be hard to do it this way if you are attempting to actual capture motion at a certain frame rate for GIFs Evaders99http://swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif Webmasterhttp://swrebellion.com/images/banners/swcicuserbar.png Administrator Fighting is terrible, but not as terrible as losing the will to fight.- SW:Rebellion Network - Evaders Squadron Coding -The cake is a lie.
February 18, 200620 yr Author What do you use to watch DVDs on your PC?Can't you play the DVD, press pause and then hit PrScn to take a screenshot? I'm using PowerDVD like Evaders below, and of course can (and do!) screen capture. The problem is the subsequent 20 mbs of bitmaps I have to work with in PS to create something 'moving.' Whilst I say it's a problem, it's more of a hassle, and I just thought it would be easier if there was some software where I could capture a sequence of frames, with compression features as well... http://www.jahled.co.uk/smallmonkeywars.gif
